Why do you think the 602 is better than the 502 for ARPGs?

6 programmable side buttons. I play a lot D3. I have every ability programmed to mouse. Allows me to put my feet up on the desk after a long hard day at work. I also prefer an optical led sensor for when I occasionally play FPS games.

i went though 2 G700's both had right click problems, and the RMA process from logitech was a PITFA that i moved over to razor.

Did they fix the stupid button on the G502?

i really do love logitech, i loved my G5 which had very little problems until i swapped to the G700 thinking it was the best mouse in the world.

How soon did your right clicking issues start to show up? Mine started maybe 1.5 to 2 years after I got the G700. I really can't recall, but it took quite a while for the right click issues to start. Its hard to recall because I thought I was having problems with games, but it was the damn mouse.
My G502 buttons work like they are supposed to. I wouldn't expect them to start failing for a long time.
Logitech has a standard 3 year warranty for the G502 which is pretty crazy, so that's good at least.

You should do some paint tests to check for jitter and angle snapping and such. Then some acceleration and failure speed tests etc. I am seeing a lot of website reviews praising the sensor but not a lot of hardcore gamers testing the sensor and its qualities. I have one Quake pro saying he think its flawless, would be good to get some more reports. Not that I would use a mouse even remotely that heavy but it would be nice that Logitech has produced a decent wireless mouse for once.

Its a wired mouse. It replaces the G500s. I saw some jitter testing images that were done in paint, even on 12,000dpi settings, and on that particular setting the lines were not smooth as all the others, but the guy admitted that at 12,000dpi he questioned his ability to hold it steady, lol. I'll try to find the images for you, but they were all very smooth and the sensor seems to be perfect.
I have seen a variety of complaints about other things though, like the weight and shape and other things that are just preference. I cam from a HEAVY G700, so this mouse is lighter for me and I personally like everything about it so far.
The reason I say its better than Zowie is people said those sensors are best above a certain DPI setting while the G502 is perfect at all settings, from 200 to 12,000. Also the sensor surface calibration actually seems to work very well. They did good with this mouse IMO, its just a little heavy for quite a lot of people.
Also, i'll do the testing myself later and post it here.

There are two problems people talk about when it comes to the Zowie mice. The first is that the focus lens changes the native DPI a bit so you don't need up with precisely 400 but something more like 450 on the lowest setting. If you are very dialed into having a mouse with an exact DPI and settings in CS or something then this will be a problem. The mouse itself doesn't have accuracy issues at any of its three DPI settings, they all work very well, its just they aren't quite the DPI expected.

The second problem is also to do with the lens and that is on certain surfaces you get a small amount of jitter. Its a single pixel jitter its not crazy amounts like you see on some mice but basically the Zowie mice prefer a black mouse pad. This is mainly a problem for those that like Puretrak Talent pads because it does jitter a little on that pad.

Neither is a show stopper as the mice are otherwise excellent and very accurate. Although I will say this - I have a problem with my Zowie Evo CL EC1. I have had it 6 months and I have two cracks developing on the back of the mouse. I have contacted the store for a replacement but so far Zowie hasn't responded, but I believe its a latent fault either in the design or the manufacturer of my mouse (I haven't dropped or abused this mouse in any way). The Zowie AM I had before was solid as a rock but I prefer the bigger shape of the EC1 and the faster mouse wheel, but these cracks are bothering me.

i completely missed this thread... sorry..

first one started having problems after 6 months, which required me to constantly reset the mouse..
(pull the battery out hold down the LMB + RMB for 10 sec fiasco)
I would need to do this every hour or so, which drove me crazy.

second one failed even faster at 3 months.

This really drove me to the wall and made me flick logitech off and grab'd a razor afterwards.

At first i thought it was just my string of bad luck until you check there forums and see there are a LOT of people having the mouse button problem.

The G700 is just flawed... it should of been discontinued and never shown the light to the outside world.

I love my G9, but I think the new G502 is going to be mine next successor of it. Here's a good side by side comparison with the G9 and wireless G602.

Yes, it's a bit higher than G9 and I really love its low height and wide body, but I think this one is going to be really suitable for my hand too.

Not sure, but my guess is that they will do a remake of the G700 like this. That would be nice. Personally, I got tired of recharging and having to plug and unplug the stupid thing. I eventually left it plugged in.
I also waiting for the wireless version

Add my 2 cents.

Coming from my second g9/g9x mouse with the inevitable cord failure design flaw...

G502 does seem to track better.

Didn't take me that long to get used to the feel and size, its somewhere between the two grip sizes of the g9x, so its not super big.

All the buttons activate easily, wheel is firm and easy to actuate as button and tilt buttons, no mushy wheel nonsense there, just like the g9, so you can bind game functions to it for decently fast response. The wheel is very stiff in the non free spin mode though, so whether that works for you is personal. But the free spin mode works great, and finally the toggle for the mode switch is on top, not the silly underside of the mouse of the g9 series.

The extra buttons are easy to reach, a nice advantage of 1 additional easy to press button vs g9 series, the dpi buttons can be rebound as well but I find those harder to reach, so I only use them for relatively unimportant binds.

The lighting can be controlled better now with the bios update, can pulsate and control brightness.

I do miss the customizable colors of the g9 series, helps identify the profile you are switching to automatically, verifies the driver hasn't frozen. But the dpi leds do blink on application profile switching so there is some indication that its working.

All in all it seems like a good mouse so far. They've both thickened the braided cord, added better strain relief and the cord is more supple, the g9 had a cord that held the factory packaging kinks for years if allowed to. So hopefully the cord doesn't have the same flaw of the g9 series.

Dpi buttons now being relatively easy to reach are more useful now in general, I bind them to other features since I never change dpi anyways.

Decided against a 602, I don't like thinking about batteries, it lacks a spin wheel, and unless you play games that require that many buttons, I have doubts about quick thumb activation of a double row of thumb buttons, makes them less useful in stuff like shooters where its about reflexes.

Logitech makes good mice, but they are never perfect it seems. Things got a stiff wheel, and no color leds. Planned obscelescence seems to be the thing...

Also, could have benefited from the mx revolutions auto shift wheel...

I just picked a G502 up today, and like it overall.

It is quite thin though, which is a little uncomfortable. Next to my G9, it seems about 2/3rd's the width.

Not loving the mousewheel so much. It has large grooves in it, which should have been small, or entirely removed and replaced by a rubber like material.

Liked the G700's dpi buttons better; these are flush with the LMB.

Tracking, responsiveness, and gliding are all top shelf though. Coming from a borked Razer Mamba 2012, and then my G9 as the backup, the G502 definitely tracks better and feels smooth.

looks really sick, only thing I wish was difference was the ability to change the glowing logo color. I know it can be shut off, but would be bad ass if it could be set to white to match my g710+ keyboard

After some time using it, I really like this mouse, except for the DPI buttons. I regularly hit them by mistake, and am thinking of gluing something on top of them, so they don't sit flush with the LMB.

Loved the way the G700's DPI front button was raised higher than the LMB - never once hit it by accident, and usually put a 'melee' attack on it for games, which worked great. Don't want to use the G502's DPI buttons for anything, because it's hard to tell when you are only over them and not going to hit LMB also.

I like the 502. My only gripe is the dpi shift key at the end where your thumb rests. I'm bumping it a lot. If they put it out farther or somewhere else then it would be fine. The tip of my thumb always bumps it so I have to hold my thumb back. This is not ideal because my thumb cant rest normally in place. I have to learn to hold my thumb back. Long term its probably not good for my thumb since it cant relax properly. I have big hands so it is a problem. Folks with medium or small hands probably dont have to worry about it.

I am stuck with rat 7 because I cannot find similar mouse with pinky rest. rat 7 got horrible quality too, they never last more than 1.5 years for me.

edit: anyone got any recommendations for mouse with pinkie rest like the rat 7(shit build quality) or ouroboros(wireless = no buy)?

Replaced this with the new G502 Hero because my middle mouse button was going out (when you click the wheel down). I need that button for work, so I got the new one. It took SEVEN YEARS for anything to go wrong with the G502 and it was only the wheel button and I use that button a LOT, like all the time and constantly clicking it to rotate models. Everything else is still perfect. Best mouse ever. This new one was only $40.00 as well and can be had for $35.00. Insane.
