i've been gaming with cordless since mx700, now using a g7. i don't think i would go back. but i can understand why pro/hardcore FPS gamers need cord. changing batteries in the heat of things is pretty stressful

I play in CAL-M, and thought the G7 was awesome for gaming. I just didn't like changing batteries, so I sold it and got a G5.

the battery lasts about 12 hours for me.. the battery is not an issue as long as you check the led meter before games.

Its not the batteries, it's the response time. There is a slight delay in response from when you move the mouse to when it moves on screen. I had the MX700. It's great for everyday computing but for FPSs the slight lag makes a HUGE difference.

I play all kinds of FPS games from HL2 to BF2 to OFP / Armed Assault and I've never noticed any mouse lag at all with the G7. The only downside is changing batteries ... but I wouldn't change one early (before it dies) like a previous poster recommended - you might end up shortening the charge life on that battery if you don't drain it completely.

So very wrong.

I have a G7. Got it with a $50 rebate a while back. Anyway, the G7 is great for games of all kind, including FPS.

G7 has been around 50 for quite some time. I have been using one, i paid ~50 ~60 OTD, for those that have a lot of 2.4ghz devices, this may be a problem as everytime when my microwave is in use, my mouse is pretty much dead.

otherwise there is no lag, this mouse is build for gaming.

G7 has some new bandwidth thing where it has the response of a regular mouse. It's different from the MX 700, but thats good news that logitech fixed that. I may buy one.

did you ever notice a lag with the mx700 in FPS games? How about with the G7? I notiiced a slight lag (almost 1 sec) in the response of both the keyboard and mouse (I had the MX duo). I went wired and everything is finne. I just wanted your opinion since you had both the mx700 and g7

- WHAT? What research do you base this claim on? Did you just happen to see the mouse lag? Maybe it was other software that caused it. Backup your claim.

here's my situation with this mouse.
it's one of the best mouse I have ever owned, wired, or wireless.

Here's my one and only gripe, and i can back my claim...

Whenever I transfer files via my network places, or when I print documents wirelessly, the G7 will move sporadically, and out of control. I can't control my mouse, and it just gets all jerky and jumpy. That's my only problem with this mouse, besides that.. this mouse is the best I have ever owned so far.

Honestly.. I believe it has something to do with the wireless mouse.. possibly using some kind of signal that is the same as my router.. =/ sucks. hope others have better luck, but besides the negative point, 50 bucks... get it!

Absolutely unacceptable for gaming... sorry!!!

It is out of stock...can I do a price match at another store? Or I can't because of mail-in-rebates. Thanks

LOL, i didn't do research. I just notice that there is a slight delay in movement from the time my hand moves to the time the screen moves in FPS games and on the desktop. The delay is a little less than a second. It makes no difference in web browsing but it is hard to have good hand-eye coordination in FPSs when there is even a little lag. The speed of an action potential down a nerve axon is 20 meters/sec. Even if the lag is just under a sec it still makes a difference. Even a half-second lag would delay your response by 10x's assuming that the length from your brain to your fingers is 1 meter. On top of that, since I had the MX Duo the delay was in both the keyboard AND mouse. I noticed this difference which is why i went back to wired, for both keyboard and mouse. I play FPSs more accurately now. I'm not even good or anything but it is annoying to play FPSs, respond to you opponent on time and get screwed because your mouse and keyboard don't respond on time

What can i back it up with? read that:

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/produ...etails/US/EN,CRID=2464,CONTENTID=10716

"Full-speed USB + 2.4 GHz cordless
4X faster than conventional mice, USB delivers blazing speed and instant acceleration. With a 5X** stronger connection, 2.4 GHz wireless "bulletproofs" the G7 against lags and interference dropouts."

This is not a feature of the MX700.

LOL

I have an MX duo and the response time is alright but hardly 1 sec. I've played many frantic deathmatches and didn't notice a lag at all and I'm usually sensitive to those kinds of things. I can usually discern between a USB and PS/2 mouse simply by playing an FPS and noticing the response time.

The MX700 had an 800 dpi optical sensor but the transmitter was FastRF, pretty much identical response time to a wired USB mouse.

G7 should be much better though. I might grab one.

Edit:

That page from Logitech makes it seem like lag due to wireless interference, not transmission speed. If you're getting interference, then yeah you might have a lag problem with the MX700. I didn't though.

I don't have the G7, but I've been using the MX700 for about 3 years now. It's my favorite mouse by far. It has all of the buttons I need, and no discernible lag. I play UT2k4 daily and have had no trouble with lag (except when I turned on AA in my gfx card curiously enough). It'll be a sad day when this thing finally dies, you can't get them anymore

As a general principle Lithium Ion batteries don't like to be discharged all of the way. In fact if you take them all of the way down it can kill them. I believe they have a circuit that stops discharge before they go dead to help protect them. They'll happily take partial charges, and I think that's best for batteries in general. The real danger is in overcharging, but most modern chargers sense voltage and adjust accordingly.
