Logitech G7...in black?

While browsing through Newegg looking for a new keyboard/mouse combo, I came across this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826104209

Notice in particular the mention of "Black" in the product name. Did Logitech finally go and make a black/silver version of the G7 behind our backs?

There's also another G7 link that goes to the usual green/silver color that has kept me from buying the G7 all along. I absolutely hate that color scheme and have no idea what Logitech was thinking with it. The G5/MX5xx series looked awesome and like serious gaming mice but the G7 looks...umm...feminine? Here I've got all this black and silver hardware surrounding me, I can't imagine suddenly having a light green mouse among it all. Blech.

I never knew it came in black. Looks like they went for the carbon fiber route.

Well this is definitely a new version of the G7. If you look it up online you'll find some better pics of it...it looks AWESOME. Has a black carbon fiber finish to it now with slightly bluish side buttons. I'm definitely planning on picking this one up, been wanting a cordless mouse for a long time now but the dpi was never right, and when it was, the mouse ends up being green!

I'm planning on getting this with a G15 keyboard. If you google the mouse, you can see a few pictures in black. Looks sweet, finally something other than shiney green.

If you look on Amazon they apparently also have a version that looks like the G5 with green LEDs instead of the orange that the G5 has.

Logitech G15 Keyboards are crap :! only great thing about the keyboard is LCD panel. I like Microsoft Keyboard.

Wow, definitely better looking. But the idea of a faux carbon fiber mouse seems sort of stupid.

That isn't much better looking. If the original one was all black it'd look better than the carbon look. Why the big blue sticker on the side button instead of black with a blue triangle like the other ones have?

I believe the big draw of the G15 is the macro keys. The LCD is fairly worthless as the program has to actually make use of it, and who looks down at their keyboard when they're playing games? Any halfway decent game should either show the pertinent info on the screen or else make it very quickly and easily accesible.

lol guys I just got mine in the mail yesterday! It looks a LOT nicer than the original model. The sides are textured and well, it the same as the old one only it looks better but performs perfectly like the old one. I SHOULD say that the reason I have this is cos my original green one stopped working (the little wireless adapter seems to be the culprit).

Nevertheless, I loved the feeling of the mouse too much to use anything else. I got it from Newegg, btw. GO GET IT!

I can see where they get the carbon fiber look from, prolly it being their fastest mouse in logitechs lineup. But i think it looks childish, the blue print looks pretty cool but other than that:thumbsdown:

Or maybe they should line the buttons with diamonds, and make the body out of gold.

Just got mine today in the mail, this is most definitely one sweet looking mouse in person. The carbon fiber finish is done in a sort of fuzzy way to simulate a 3D look, and it sort of works, although it doesn't quite have the depth of real carbon fiber of course. Kinda wish it had a weak blue LED behind the G7 logo just to give it some pizazz but being battery powered and already so power hungry I guess that's out. I'm still trying to get used to holding it, as I've used a Razer Boomslang for the past 6 years or so and am so used to its extremely low profile and how I mostly was able to hold and control it using just my fingertips. The G7 is much taller and once in the hand, is much shorter from front to rear than the Boomslang so it's a bit awkward in that I have to use my entire hand almost to move it accurately. But all in all, I like it...the last cordless mouse I touched was the MX700 and I found the Boomslang 2100 completely superior to it. At long last there's a cordless mouse in town that's neck to neck with the Boomslang in DPI speed and smoothness...I've waited for this day for a loooong time.

My only major gripe with the G7 is that its wheel button is way too tight...ended up just disabling it and using the thumb button as my autoscroll button. Funny because with the MX700 I thought its wheel button was way too mushy.

Heh, I've seen the green one and it doesn't look like you would even notice the green in a low-light setting, But that's just my observation. That's what I was debating when I got my MX518, but ultimately I just didn't like the "plastic" feel of the G7 against the rubber grip of the MX518..Tilt wheel would be kinda nice though..

The green is so dark it almost looks black

Logitech hit bad luck with the original G7 because most websites pictures of it are like bright teal/aqua but the actual mouse is really dark green/almost black. So a lot of people decided against it based solely on pictures and never saw the real thing.

That's what I meant..either way it still came down to the grip that I didn't like, not the color.

Logitech just sent me this revised version for an RMA I filed for the original G7. I must say it is a great improvement in both appearance and feel. It has a very carbon-fiber like look with some blue accents. The grib along both sides is now made out of a very bumpy rubber instead of the ultra slick plastic like the rest of the mouse. Simply put, it rules.

Same here - Logitech sent me a replacement G7 yesterday, and I was surprised to find that it's the black/carbon fiber version. I definitely like the looks and feel of this version better than my previous standard version. Really, though, it's probably the FEEL of the new mouse (with the rubberized sides) that I like the most about the new one, the looks are a little better, but I thought the original G7 looked sweet as well.

the carbon look is tacky, i would prefered an all black high gloss finish automotive style.

my G7 has been great, and when i first got it those feet they got on there....the polytetraflouroethylene or something feet made it glide like an air hockey puck...but now ive been using it a while i think they have worn out.....definately lost their smoothe-ness
