The link to the remote at Dell is right here.

The next best price I could find was at Data VIS.com via Pricegrabber for $92.85 shipped.

I've never used a Harmony before, so who knows if it's worth it. I'm hoping to pare down my living room collection from five remotes to one. This is what my bill looks like:

Harmony 550 $59.99
S&H: $4.99
Tax: $4.80
Total: $69.78

EDIT:
Question:
"Are these remotes compatible with device XYZ?"
Answer: You can "take a test drive" using this link with Logitech. You have to create an account. Then, enter your model numbers and see what happens. There is a lot of stuff already in there.

Question:
"My Infra-red Romulen Phaser isn't in that database. Can I 'teach' the Harmony remote?"
Answer: Yes you can teach the Harmony other IR commands. Click on any of the annoying "Product Tours" at Logitech's Harmony webpage.

Harmonys are excellent remotes. This is a good price on a great remote. I have the 659 and wish I had gotten one years ago. It controls a dvd player, vcr, tv, receiver, and TiVo for me. IMO they are SO worth it.

No, just of a different design.

The best description/comparison for all the models that I've seen can be found here.

Love my 550... Easy to program via USB on your computer. Just tell it what devices you have, and it takes care of the rest. One touch for "Watch DVD" turns on HP Plasma, sets source, turns on Onkyo receiver, sets source, turns on DVD player. Nice!

Great deal, picked mine up used off eBay 4 months back for more than that. Used to be $150 + for this model...

I'd so like to own the radio frequency version, but from what I've heard, the recievers aren't updated with the firmware updates for the remote and causes incompatibility.

Hopefully, logitech gets those issues worked out on future models as I love RF over IR.

You guys that have this....does anyone know if it'll work with the MS IR receiver of the MCE remote? I'd like to program this remote to control all function of a MCE PC. This is a helluva price.

Good question. I can't find a list of devices this will control on Logitech's site - any ideas where to find that info?

All the remotes share a common (huge) ir database, MCE codes are definitely in there.

Ive owned or setup for friends/family every remote in their line except the 550... their remotes are great.
There are obviously others out there, but Harmony's are the easiest to program. Being web based isnt just for kitch factor. When my sister added a new dvd player, i was able to update her profile online, have her sync it and I was done, never had to go over there. Was one of those zen-technology moments.

btw my favorite is the 680(688)
Hard buttons rule, one button to go to dvd, xbox etc is the way to go. 550 doesnt have these, but neither does their flagship 880/890.

This may seem like an odd question, but do the Harmony remotes allow you to control Logitech speaker sets? More specifically the z5500s.

Sweet, just decided to get one and this beats the 680 for $120.

I'm going to try to get it to work with both my Media Center PCs, HDTV, satellite box and air conditioner...

I will.

Does anyone know if this thing can actually learn an IR signal form another remote? I had a program for a PDA that could turn the PDA into a remote for anything, it could learn any IR signal or sequence. If so, it should work with any kind of remote, except RF of course. You'd need the 890 for that.

A little off topic, but do they make a remote control that you can use with htpc that has some sort of mouse controller. Preferably one with nub like the ones on the old notebooks. If not, someone should make one so that you can control the pointer with your thumb.

ati's remote wonder's, had a mouse feature (though it was really slow), you don't really need a mouse to navigate the mce interface and if you are trying to do more then that you should use a wireless mouse/keyboard (gyration is best as you don't need a surface, just move it in the air).

That does indeed help

I've bought a used 880 from Amazon instead though for $99.

I got one at $59 yesterday and it shipped out today. I looked up a lot of reviews before I purchased the remote, and it was rated pretty highly even on remote control forums.
