Logitech Mouse wheel config for Quake III or Daikatana

I just cant't seem to get my mouse wheel to rotate through the weapons on the above games. Does anyone know what to set the Logitech mouse setup program for making the mouse wheel work?

I would like to be able to rotate thru my weapons using the wheel.

I haven't played Quake 3 recently but here's how I set it up in Mouseware (since I haven't played I'm not 100% sure it will work but it should so just try it)

Set the middle button to 'Autoscroll'
Once you did that click on the Options button with the asterisk that is under the picture of the mouse.
Goto the 'Autoscroll' tab and enable 'Use ms compatible scroll only (works as middle button)'.
Make sure under the scroller part of the 'Buttons' tab in mouseware
that 'Use ms compatible scroll only' is disabled.

I think this is how to set it up so you can scroll in windows with the wheel (without needing to press a button), use mouse3 in games, and use the wheel to scroll weapons or whatever in games.

there is a file on logitechs site that will enable the mouse wheel for games. its a really small .reg file. go grab that and try it. Otherwise youll have to kill the em_exec app (thats the runtime for the mouseware software) I really like the mouseware software since it allows you to do scrolling a whole lot nicer than anything MS uses.

I believe that patch is just for some games that have problems with it. Quake based games were problematic I guess, so they created the patch. works great for me

I had a problem with the mouseup and mousedown functions working correctly.

I fixed this by editing the q3config.cfg to get rid of the "alternate keys" that were assigned to the weapon up weapon down actions.

example:

bind "]" weapon up
this would be deleted and the bind "MOUSEWHEELUP" weapon up would be added or kept.

This somehow fixes it although if you go back into quake and try to change any controls "in-game" you'll have to go back and re-edit the config file as your changes will be deleted (strange, I know)
