can't u change channels? rf devices tend to have channels. here i am with not 2, but 3 logitech cordless mice within6 feet of each other, and they work fine.

I've tried changing channels 20ish times and it's still a no go. Do the base stations of each need to be fairly far apart from each other? From the other device? Basestations are about 2 feet apart...keyboard basestation is about 3 ft from the mouse, and the mouse station is less than a foot form the keyboard

thats odd. they should coexist even close together. my 3 transmitters are mere feet away from each other. rf transmitters should beas close to the mice as possible anyways. maybe the ms and logitech just don't get along with each other maybe their channels overlap. i dunno. thats just rather odd.

i use a corded ms ergo multimedia kb. oem versions cheap online.

i bought my mx 1000 a two weeks ago, and i must say that i am very pleased with it. is a bit heavy, but that doesn't do any problems becouse it flies on any surface. i've read that some people have problems with ergonomics, but that's just the problem with individuals. before mx 1000 i had a no name mouse and i just needed some time( few hours) to get used to this one. batteries are brilliant, i didn't have to recharge it since i bought it, and i use it reguraly. performace done in gaming is very good, becouse you have a lot of options in mouse software to adjust, so you can adjust to mouse just like you want it to be, only problem is that he is not recognized inside the games, so it could become boring if you have to adjust it every time when you switch from one game to another.

but at the end mouse is worth buying!

How long will it takes til a corded Version comes out? I don't want a wireless mouse, they just suck IMO.

I believe I read on cnet that Logitech was going to implement this technology into much cheaper mice. Anyone have any idea when that will be? I need a new mouse and the MX510s are $44 at zipzoomfly but I want to hold out for the lazer ones if they are coming out soon.

I've been using this mouse for over a week now - and I LOVE it!
The battery life is a BIG plus to me. With my MX700, it got to the point where I would have to recharge it mid-day. I charged my mx1000 the first night I got it, and it still has 2/3 of the battery left!

I also like the size and weight. I can't stand people who whine about a heavy mouse for whatever reason... maybe because they're too weak or something... boo hoo! The size also fits my hand very comfortably.

I even tested it out in UT2k4 and found it to work great, better than the mx700. Yes people, wireless mice can be used in games! I've been doing it for years now.

I couldn't be happier with this mouse!

I bought one of these and I'm actually using it now, at work.

It's not as good as the MX700.

Simple as that, which is why I didn't take it home with me (I have 2 MX700's at home, so when one runs out, get the other out the cradle, swap round).

I don't like the tilt wheel, I don't like the way the new scroll buttons click, I think it's uglier, I don't like the big thumb scoop, it's just too big, and the bit with the back and forward buttons protrudes in a way that isn't pleasing when you push your thumb into the scoop.

I like the MX700's shape better. Maybe if they put the laser engine into an MX700 we'd all be happy

VirtualLarry you really anooyed me already reading this post why u turn it into "PS/2 vs USB" its not right place for this go create new topic and discuss it as far as u want.
Also whats your super specs and your mouse in first place. (Dont write here please!)
I play FPS over internet with logitech non MX optical mouse trough USB and frag people left and right, i think u really look for excuse of your lack of skills.
Any coments PLEASE in NEW TOPIC!

I USED to feel that way. Since using this mouse, I'm a convert.

It is smooth as silk. It goes to sleep VERY quickly to conserve the batteries, yet awakens immediately with no noticeable lag. I can NO discernable problem with the hardware at all.

Now if only logitech would straighten out their software to match their hardware, it would be perfect.

Same. Wireless still doesn't cut it.

Not sure i read Tomshardware and they say that since mx900 wireless is pretty good and i sow no posts on any forum claiming that its not, only ppl whos not sure because they dont trust wireless, well i am one of them to.
But i think i'll buy mx1000, anyway dont think wired version of it will ever be out.

Its looks more like serious bug because mouse dont work immediately after put on table. I would not count on that mouse when i play FPS.
I heard this bug was discussed somehwere inside this foum but have not found it yet.

Yes, i apologize for not updating this thread with all the latest MX 1000 news.
It got to be too much to keep updating.

There is a known issue, so if you're a gamer...likely it's not the best bet.

But to be quite honest, anyone serious about gaming knows wired is still the way to go.

There are many threads on other messageboards out there i have seen about the issue you are referring to, but it seems only some people are having it.

I just got this mouse. I must say, this is aweeeeesome. I don't seroiusly game anymore so the mouse not responding isn't a big deal. Basically it only happens if you lift it up 1cm up off the ground and put it back on the mouse pad. It takes like 0.2 seconds to respond, probably less, then it will move again. If you lift it up so it's still on its side, like a sideways wheelie, it will work perfectly which is good for me. It feels great, the thumb takes a little getting used to from the MX500 but it is fine. The buttons are all very nice, the middle click is a little hard to push down but not a problem. The best part about this mouse is it looks stunning.

Oh and you can't see the laser. The sideways wheel is quite cool too. The wireless is also completely responsive, just like using a wired mouse IMO.

I have the mx700, mx500, mx510 and now the mx1000. The 1000 matches almost the 510 in response time, you only notice it if you play a bit with the 510 and then immediately move over to the 1000. The reduction in lag from the 700 to the 1000 is really big. The battery has also been improved a lot as well as working on many more surfaces than the 700 or 500.

I play a lot of games and still beat my friends (they are quite good) regardless of my cordless mouse so I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Cheers!

That sucks. Maybe someday there will be lightweight cordless mice.

Looks cool, but I don't like cordless things that dont' need to be. IMHO for the time being a mouse works better corded. When "they" get some sort of wireless power transmission that means you don't have the charge it, then they'll be good .

As to USB vs. PS/2, I can notice a USB connected mouse in a heartbeat. It's not bandwidth, it's the IRQ's as stated. If the cpu does anything heavy, it ignores the USB bus for a bit, and it causes a noticeable pause in mouse movement. I've noted this on numerous systems of many diferrent makes. I don't use a mouse connected via USB for any extended period of time.

Oh well. I'm not sure why you are complaining, you didn't start this thread. This is a thread about mice, and relative merits, isn't it? It didn't seem totally OT to me. If it was, then I apologize.

Strangely, what I posted in this thread, and what I've subsequently posted in your later thread about the upcoming Razor Diamondback mouse's higher specs, have been totally in support of higher DPI and polling rates. Again, I'm at a loss to understand why you would complain, about me supporting the same things that you posted about. ?

And? I've played LAN games against someone who was in the top worldwide ranks on UT. So? I may not have won, but I score much better against him than any of my other friends, all of whom are competition video-game players of one type or another. I was too, in a former life (when I was younger). That was back before FPS games were popular though. I was a big 2D shooter fan instead. So if you want to bring up "skills", yeah, I've won comps before. But that's pretty irrelevant these days.

Edit: Whoa, my 2600th post was about video games, and it wasn't even planned that way. That was totally cool. Thanks ZUnit.

Here you go... I wrote this after I had to take that piece of crap MX1000 back for the awesome MX510. Just click on the link to read of the chances you take with this shoddy product (if you're a gamer).
