You guys should check out logigamer.com for the logigamer software. I made a post in another thread so I'll just past the feartures from the site, it works, its awesome.

and the keyboard hook combined with logigamer lets you change profiles on the fly , in game or program.
http://www.logigamer.com/gKeyboardHook.htm

LogiGamer is a utility that allows you to create different mouse button profiles for different applications, typically games, and then apply these mouse buttons settings for use with an application.(A profile is a collection of mouse button settings and other information specific to an application.)

LogiGamer also allows for the profile to be automatically applied when the associated application is launched, and for the default profile to be applied when the associated application exits.

Features:

Create Profiles that allow you to easily use ALL your mouse button in games.
Quickly Switch between Mouse Profiles for games & other applications .
Automatically Apply Profile on Game Launch (auto-detect) & auto-switch back to default profile when game exits.
Command Line Parameters to apply profiles from shortcuts/batch files.
Edit the list of "compatible games" and set advanced mouse driver options.'-end

Make sure you go to the forums, all you need to know is there, check stickys.

thank GPK, the creator.

People!

Sample rate, refresh rate, update rate, whatever you want to call this whether 40/80/125/200 etc. clicks per second has no bearing on wireless vs. wired K?

New Logitech products both WIRED and WIRELESS show 125/s on USB which is plenty o smooth!

Problem with wireless (MX 700-900-1000 too!) is there is lag from when you push mouse first and when cursor starts to move on screen! Yes it is there. Cannot deny it. Someone needs to write a program that can measure this by comparing the motion of the mouse on the physical pad and to the motion on the cursor (start times for both).

With corded mouse I see the cursor move the very INSTANT my hand moves! With wireless there is a delay no matter how infinitessimal THE DELAY BE THERE DAMMIT and it will SCREW WITH YOUR LPB GAMES!

Not to mention the wireless mouse is so damn heavy. Haha the MX518 omits the block of iron inside. Yessir I opened them up and the 510 has the iron and the 518 does not. Light is good, heavy is chevy.

I took the weight out of my 510.

And yes I have both and even if its only psychological Ive gone back to my 510 for FPS games. I noticed the biggest difference in Tribes 2, a game which unlike most others has moments where you want twitch and moments where you want control.

Happy owner of a MX1000 here - until yesterday. This is what I sent to logitech support:

I've had the MX1000 for not quite a year yet. Until yesterday, it was working perfectly. However, all of a sudden it stopped waking on movement. After the charge lights go out, nothing happens as I move it by hand or turn the scroll wheel. It will wake, however, if I press any of the buttons. Picking the mouse up also has no effect. When it's awake it works normally, and it stays awake until I stop moving it.

I have made no system configuration changes recently. Also, pressing the reset button does not fix the problem.

---------------------

Wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Since I don't lift my mouse during any of my gameplay the issue is non-existent for me. I still have no idea why people need to pick up their mouse. If the desk is small, set the sensitivity setting in the game up. The MX1000 is so accurate that even the sensitivity is up you still be able to control them smoothly. I'd definitely be getting one.

Also it seems logitech can't be blamed. The implementation of switching off the laser off when leaving the surface is part of law for safety protocol.

My MX1000 responds perfectly, even when I set it back down after lifting it responds immediatly, and im using the windows drivers!

I even tried emulating whatthe guy was doing in the video, and he must have had a bad mouse because mine DOES NOT do that!

One thing I must advise is that the mouse is BIG, and so was uncomfortable at first, also its a bit heavy so this will definatly turn off gamers because weight is an issue.

I remember this thread when it was first made, and I said screw these people, and bought one anyways. Now here I am, what, 9 months later? And my MX-1000 is STILL the best mouse I've ever used. NO ISSUES whatsoever. No "lag" that FoxyProxy mentioned either, sorry girl...

My batteries are still lasting forever. Highly recommended.

All i see is you slamming the damn thing around. I have never, nor would ever need to "use" a mouse in that manner.

As I've said earlier, no one should use mouse like that. (Not the least like the extreme video, but also in any case lifting the mouse) Plain stupid
If they have a working brain, should be able to adapt and correct their way of using the mouse. If they are going to blame something, they must have use them the right way first. Case closed.

Mods should lock this thread as well

I first read about it in an early review here at this thread. A few people were having issues, but it wasn't clear until later how bad it was. Read through some of the pages afterwards and you'lll see what I mean (I add my review there too.)

Thanks to the first dude on that thread who came up with the *U* test. When playing games you have to pick up your mouse often to reposition, but this crappy mouse won't turn back on for a second or so when you set it back down! Lookat these two videos to see what I mean:

Normal MX700 mouse response when picking it off the mat

Awful response from the MX1000

My old Intellimouse (original edition!) had seen better days, but it still worked pretty well with the feet worn off and everything. I'm getting a new super computer soon, so I was in the market for all-around peripheral upgrades. Wanting to be on the cutting edge, I fell for the $80 hype of laser technology (1.3 software) from Logitech.

I don't know if it's laser problems in general or just a rushed product for Christmas (ergo, SCAM), but the MX1000 does not deserve to be on the shelf, period. True, some people may have it work adequately for them, but there are quite a few people out there with complaints - and apparently Logitech ackowledges it by saying it's made for office applications in their message boards (i.e. not games!). They need to pring that on the box!

I play on a light wood, shiny surface so according to Logitech they made the MX1000 just for me. 100%, Grade A, USDA Choice garbage. First of all, it failed the 'U' test miserably for me too. It didn't even pretend to know it was touching a surface until after a second or so. I tried it on a dozen different surfaces - all the same non-responsive results. I tried it with the Setpoint software, the Intellipoint software and barebones. It's a crappy mouse through and through.

Honestly, once it decides to move, I admit the cursor moves like a dream. VERY smooth which shows the potential when its finally done right. Buut it's not right here. I turned on Counter Strike next; I literally laughed out loud when I tried laying down the ownage on a public server like I can do with the old corded Intellimouse. Even with toning down the speed a bit (it's increased by default it seems), my character jitters about like he has Turret's Syndrome or something. Absolutely ridiculous.

20x more tracking power my @$$... the only reason their marketing genius didn't use '100x more tracking power' is because the phrase is probably copyrighted from some other company's scam. No wonder Logitech is claiming that it wasn't meant primarily for gaming (according to an earlier post here). You can't blame it on its sleep mode either; the three lights go off after eight seconds or so of non-movement, but in the 'U' test it stays on.

I never tried the MX700, but according to some reviews and comments I've read, the re-charge rate is poor and the precision isn't as solid as the corded mice just yet (I could be wrong). But for now I took it back (CompUSA charged a 15% restocking fee for that beta!). I got the excellent MX510 instead and it is perfect.

TRUST me if you're a gamer. It's not worth taking the chance on being a duped guinea pig even if you end up being a rare, fortunate player where it works well on your machine. Last year the gaming scam of the year for me was the buggy Champions of Norrath online game on the Playstation 2. This year the crown so far easily goes to Logitech's obviously rushed MX1000.

P.S. It also rocks back 'n forth on flat surfaces like it has a broken wheel or something, just like some other complaints in that thread. Hust another example of how shoddy this rushed piece of crap is.

I recently purchased the MX1000 and it does not have the problems being described here. One problem I do have with it is this: When I hold the mouse normally (to where it fits my hand perfectly) I cannot make horizontal lines with quick motions. All of my lines have a slight angle to them, sloping from the left and going upwards to the right, similar to a forward slash / but not as severe. I have tried setting the orientation with no success, so my question is this: for those of you out there WITH MX1000's, does this also happen to you? Was there a slight learning curve or something to adjust to this? I bought the mouse from Sam's which has an excellent return policy, but I'd rather not open two of them if both will have the same result.

Also, I have had 3 other people use the mouse on 2 different computers and try to make horizontal lines by moving the mouse left and right quickly (in MSPAINT) and they have all had the same result, indicating it may be the mouse or some software setting I am missing.

arredondo, ever hear of the phrase "Buyer beware"? Learn it and remember it, and then apply it to this current situation .

I bought this mouse recently and I noticed that my pointer keeps jumping up randomly. I tried to install the newest setpoint software but it's still happening. Any ideas?

One word of warning, if the mouse does head south, Logitech could end up sending you an inferior mouse as a replacement, as they did with me and many others who bought a MX700 and got a wireless Smart Click as a replacement.

hm no idea. But the MX1000 I just bought have none of the problems the OP mentioned and no jumping whatsoever. Perfectly working.
I can't reproduce the mouse lag when taken off table either.
New reversion may be?
