Logitech MX500, the first logitech mouse I am realy unhappy with

I have been using mouseman mice from logitech ever since the first one was released always loved the feel and the quality of them but not anymore. I have been using a mx500 for 1-2 months now and the main buttons are reaaaaly anoying, there is not this solid feel of *click* I am used to instead on the left button there was this crashing sound of plastic scratching plastic before the *click* was heard. After a while that got very anoying but luckily that went away for some reason, but not far, that sound was replaced by a similar sound on the right button.

Today I just got another one and it has almost the same bloody problems except instead of scratching sounds there is a big konk sound when I press it like I press down, button meets button mechanism, button mechanism meets something else. So right now my mom will get that mx500 crap and I'm back with my old blue mouseman optical.

And one question, anyone know if any online stores have the old blue mice on stock?

I haven't had the problems you are having with your buttons, but the ergonomics are a step down from the blue opticals you are talking about... I have two of the blue mouseman opticals, and they are great... With the MX, I am always accidently clicking the side buttons, and the mouse overall is smaller and doesn't fit my hand as well....

i have never had the problems you describe with my mouse, mine is a mx700, they do have a version that is like the old blue mouseman but with the newer optical technology. i did enjoy my blue mouse as well, but i am quite happy with the mx700

i had the blue optical and i'm using the mx700 now. i just took out my blue mouse and compared it to the mx700 and i have to say the click is the same. and i think i prefer the feel of the new mx series.

and the only place where i found it sold was an amazon merchant.

Hmm... I love my mx700, basically exact same mouse only cordless. I have never had a problem with it and never experienced any of the sounds you say you are hearing. Maybe you should exchange it for a new one. And do you seriously like the feel of the blue mouseman better? Cause this one fits the hand so much better.

I love my MX700 as well.

I use the blue optical mouseman at work. It's ok, but I'd rather have my MX.

I'm using the MX500 now don't have any problems as far as the quality is concerned, other people i know seem fine with it too. Previously I had the blue mouseman, not sure what happened exactly.... I think I might have broke it. To me the quality seems about the same, but defiantly think the MX series is step back in style, that illuminated blue Logitech logo was sweet .

I got an MX310 and I think the ergonomics basically suck. But it's nothing I can't cope with.

I have pretty big hands, not really big as in *big*, but really long fingers etc. In a high school science class, I had the second biggest thumb-tip-to-pinky-tip-span in the class, behind some basketball player. So I kind have to back my hand off of it and just hold it with my finger tips.

I also don't like the inward grooves on the sides. My thumb tends to go to the very front of the groove and the groove is too small right there so my thumb doesn't fit in it so it doesn't feel all that comfortable.

The buttons on the sides of the mouse are a pain in the ass to reach, I totally have to bend my finger or thumb to reach back and click them. The little button behind the wheel requires me to do the same thing. It would have been better in front of the wheel.

But again, all of this is more or less solved by keeping my hand back a bit, and I think the extra 3 buttons are worth it. Still trying to contemplate what exactly I want to make the buttons do. So many ideas.

Everyone seems to disregard the MX300... if you don't like the ergonomics on the MX500, check it out. It has the same engine as its bigger brothers for a lower price.

My MX300 is the same shape as the older models and has the MX optics. Great buy for $30.

I kinda fixed my problem by taking a few layers of tape and putting it between the buttons and the black peace with the wheel, what seems to be the problem with the one I have is that the buttons themselves are not touching the bottom part of the pushers since the pushers want to go up and therefor always bang the wheel part

I know, impossible to visualize, I recomend looking at the mouse while reading this
