I have been with my Microsoft Optical Blue for quite some time and I feel the need for an upgrade. I am confused about the new laser mice from Logitech. I would like your opinions on which one is best for gaming, the MX1000 or the MX510. Thanks in advance

Cordless mice still aren't there yet.

At this point, I have to say the same thing. For me, it's not as much about the tracking, as it is about the extra weight of the cordless mice. I tried a MX700 but just couldn't get used to the heavier weight (with the batteries).

I picked up the MX1000 in the store a few weeks ago, and it definately feels lighter than the MX700 did, but I'll stick with my mouse tail for now.

Ok, thanks for the quick replies. So, is the only difference cordless and corded, I saw where usb is pretty much the limiting factor and not the mice whether they be corded or cordless.

The MX1000 is the best cordless mouse period, however the extra weight can go against it in gaming(I do own one btw),I`ve been really impressed with the Razer Diamondback mouse, the 16 bit data path helps ensure real smooth and very fast response, also very light as well, the mouse is better then what I thought it would be.

If I had to pick one mouse for gaming and consider all factors,it would be the Razer Diamondback.

Depends. when playing games, do you often pick up your mouse and set it back down? in FPS, i have low sensitivity and to make a big turn, i swing the mouse right, pick it up, recenter it on my mousepad and continue the swing to the right.

if you do things like that, the MX1000 does have a delay/lag. after the mouse sense its been picked up, it'll shut the laser off to save battery power. once you set it back down, it takes about half a second for it to register that it has surface contact and turn the laser back on. that is the only flaw of the mx1000 and is very minor 90% of the people, the execption being players like myself.

if you do pick your mouse up often, i'd say got with the mx510.

that said, if you want wireless, look at mx700. it performs flawlessly and compares in every way to the mx510. i own mx700 (almost 2 years now) and i owned a mx1000 (returned after realizing the pickup-setdown delay) and used the mx510. i personly use mx700, but i did prefer the mx1000 and once they fix the laser turn on, i'll be buying one.

for gaming wireless, the mx700 works great (not sure about the newer mx900 bluetooth). the wireless feature does not contibute any lag. period.

Ok, I think I am going to get the MX1000, I want a cordless mouse, I always seem to have the cord in the way. I also keep my sensitivity fairly high and don't really need to pick it up often enough and if I find it does bother me, just another thing for me to mod

Thanks for your input I really appreciate it before going and spending almost 75 dollars on a mouse.

Yep, I really think I prefer a lighter mouse than most folks. After I returned the MX700, I picked up the MX310 and love it. No frills, but extremely light and fits my hand good.

I know it takes some time to adjust, but the MX700 felt like I was pushing a rock around my desk.

yeah i just got my mx1000 today and it does perform very nicely compared to my old intellimouse. however i do notice the ever so slight lag when i pick up the mouse and it does bother me somewhat. however returning would be a waste of money since i would have to pay restocking at newegg. im hoping there will be a driver update and maybe even hacked drivers that come out that fix this problem. maybe a 5-10 second delay before it stops the connection to save power. that would eliminate the lag and not get you fragged in source.

Don't get the MX1000. Many of them have an AWFUL lag when you place it back down after you pick it up. It makes playing FPSs, especially at low sensitivity, nearly impossible. Wait until they iron the bugs out with it.

have been usiing the MX510 and I love it. I would recommend using a wired mouse to prevent bad batteries from costing you any frags.
