Looks like free shipping at NewEgg but at TD you would have to spend $100 to get free shipping.

Uhmmm, what's the DPI on this mouse? I checked reviews (hard to believe this mouse is 4 years old now), and they say it's 1600dpi mouse. Photos on amazon.com and at TD shows 1600dpi on the box. However photos at newegg website show 1800DPI on the box.

I'd jump on newegg one since it appears to have updated sensor, but 5.99 shipping kind of kills the deal for me.

Awesome mouse! Mine is 3+ years old with heavy use and its still going strong. First mouse I've had with forward and back thumb buttons and I couldn't live without them now.

Buy.com is also an eligible retailer for the rebate and they have the mouse for $0.13 more. However if you use Bing you save 4% which is around $2. And they have free shipping.

So $43.12 (FS) - 4% Bing - $15 Rebate = ~$26.40

Just to confirm, I just received my mouse from amazon... It's 1800 DPI.

Also, it's VERY fast shipping and packed way better then newegg for what it's worth.

Amazon is free shipping all day long...

If it's shipped from Amazon and over 25 bucks it's automatic free shipping no maybe about it.

FYI information guys, I just checked Fry's ads for CA and they have 518 mouse for $20 after same $15 MIR today. I don't know if any other FRY's locations have the mouse on sale at the same price, but it's worth checking out!

They also have have 3.5G Deathadder at $40.

How's this compare to the Mx500? Mine's lost it's grip. The sides are worn smooth.

Very well. Same mouse really. See if you can demo one in store. They've got a smoother surface, but all the buttons/location of the buttons are the same. I use both (one on laptop one on desktop) and don't notice a difference going between them.

Also ty to poster above for pointing out the $20 deal at Fry's. Gonna have to jump on that - always nice to have a backup.

the 518 also peeled, i have one that is pretty much bare on one side, its pretty gross.
i'm not sure if they ever fixed it.
i now use the rough grip on the g9, it doesn't wear much at all. plus you can buy a replacement if it does wear. the 518 would peel so much you might as well have just sanded the rest off.

Actually what's kind of odd is my old MX500 never peeled a bit. I wore the left clicker out after years and years of use. The MX518 peeled real fast (4 mo) so I talked to Logitech, and they sent me a new one. This one has peeled too, but it took a couple years.

Meanwhile, I replaced the buttons in the old MX500 and gave it to my brother. He still uses it, and it still hasn't peeled. Go figure. The wheel rubber is actually pretty worn on it though

it varies, my old mx700 didn't peel, just a few worn spots where there was natural contact.
the mx518 peeled all over, it was more like the rubber was degrading rather than it was being worn away.

This style of Logitech mice is by far my favorite.

I (ab)used an MX510 for years before it finally stopped working. When it died I replaced it with a G5 a couple of years ago.

Both of these mice suffered from the aforementioned peeling grip problem. It's doesn't really bother me that much since I'm the only one that uses my computer peripherals, but I'd imagine such a worn-in device would seem pretty disguising for someone else to use.

I haven't been a big fan of the G5 to be completely honest. Mine has been riddled with poor tracking and has been significantly inferior to my MX510. The MX510 never skipped while tracking, yet this G5 sometimes acts like it is possessed.

If I wasn't a cheap turd I would replace it. I'm still using a 4-year-old pair of headphones that are *way* past their days. If I attached a picture I'm sure it would elicit some nasty looks.

PS. There was also a price drop on NewEgg, it's down to $25 AR FS

its an ok price, just know the driver features are bare as they were from launch, thats logitechs thing. i know the g5 has issues, i got a g9 instead, but those sales are far and few between, the shape doesn't bother me, i got used to it quick.

the spin wheel on the new logitech mice and g9 just is a killer app though, i couldn't ever go back to an older mice for that reason. that and auto profile switching.
