I'm not sure if the BT MS mouse is out yet but I've heard rave things about the mx700. Anyone have any opinions on the bluetooth mouse?

Also how does the mx700 compare to MS's current Wireless intellipoint?

Hi,

I can't directly answer your question since I have the MX500 and Wireless Microsoft Explorer however I want to comment on the Microsoft Wireless Explorer: It feels great, it looks hot but it performs terrible with 3D games (major lag in Quake 3 and Unreal 2003). The MX500 is a corded mouse but its very good overall for gaming and desktop usage. I use to own the Logitech Dual Optical and the MX500 Optical engine is almost just as good or better than last years generation Optical devices from Logitech. The MX500 is a clear winner for me.

I read somewhere that the MX700 is the first wireless mouse that can adequately handle fast paced 3D shooters. Can anyone confirm or clarify?

As for the Bluetooth Explorer - that mouse does look really attractive and I'm hoping it will perform better than the previous Microsoft Wireless RF explorer.

Yea reading the reviews on Amazon seems the MS intellipoint wireless is a battery hog which sucks.

My only gripe is i'm looking to get a wireless setup (keyboard/mouse) but I don't like any of the combos and neither logitech or MS sell just an ergo. keyboard in a wireless fashion just as a keyboard, they all come with mice. Sucks because I don't like any of the mice that come with their combos.

I was in your boat too. I bought the Logitech Wireless Comfort Duo (the one with the split keyboard) and left the included mouse in the box so that I can use it with my corded MX500 mouse. A wireless mouse would be nice but I heard the MX700 was heavy with its batteries so I chose the MX500. I'm happy with my combo so far. Good luck with your ideal Wireless setup.

Thanks. I just talked to one of my old buddies from school and he said he bought the keyboard here
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/keyboard/wodp_info.asp

OEM from a etailer on pricewatch but I can't find it. He uses the intellipoint wireless optical and said he loves it. Had the same batteries in for 1.5 months which is outstanding compared to the reviews posted on Amazon.

I have an mx700 and I don't notice the weight in the slightest. Honestly, even if it's twice as much as a non-cordless, a mouse is still not what I consider a heavy object.

Well I have the original 3 button mouseman and it's definitely heavier than other mice I use. I guess I'll just have to go to best buy and try one out.

I have the mx 700 and the microsoft wireless explorer. I stopped using the wireless explorer because of the lag in games and went back to the mouseman optical. When the mx700 came out I bought it. No lag at all. It is heavy due to the rechargeable batteries. The only issue is with software. To use the wheel in fps games you have to use one of the fixes on logitech's site. I go into services in xp and disable the logitech software then the wheel works great. This mouse has no noticeable lag at all.

How much did you guys pay for the MX700??? Reason I ask is that its currently going for ~$57 MIR at Amazon right now. Is that a good price for this mouse?

TIA,

Chiz

Question for ALL Logitech MX700 owners, how long are the batteries lasting on full charge? The reason I ask is that some reviews are saying 6-10hrs,other 3-4 days and some more,6hrs won`t be enough for me so I need to know before I decide to buy one, thanks!

You do realize this is a rechargeable mouse that comes with a charging cradle don't you? Besides if you spend more than 6 striaght hours in front of the computer you need to get outside more

I just got my mx700 tonite and it's awesome .. really good response ...

Answers to full charge and usage questions

Q: How long should the mouse take to reach a full charge?
A: After a complete discharge, the mouse will take four to six and a half hours to reach a full charge. Charging the mouse for 15 minutes gives the mouse enough power to operate for one day of standard use. We recommend you fully charge the mouse as often as possible.

Q: How long should a full charge last?
A: On average, a full charge should last about ten days for a standard office user. Some "heavy" users might need to recharge the mouse more often. Low cycle times (one to three days before the unit has to be recharged) may indicate that the mouse never powers down as it is designed to do during inactivity periods.
If u have more questions .. go to the logitech link provided here

LOL.....well I`m a hardcore gamer so sometimes I do spend a long time online in gaming ,can be all night weekends, yes I know it has rechargeable cradel but if it goes flat while in gaming the cradel is no good to me,so if I can charge it up when I go to sleep and it will last until my next sleep time great,if you read my first post I did meantion other reviews which means I`ve read & done quite a bit of research on it , as for getting out more when you get older like me you spend more time indoors .

I just bought the Microsoft Wireless Desktop for Bluetooth, and so far, I am quite happy with it! The keyboard has good feedback response, and the mouse feels really good in hand. I haven't tried playing many games with it yet, but most of my games have to do with racing so I am not inclined to using a mouse for driving Anyhow, so far its working really good! The keys on the keyboard and translucent blue, and the rest of the keyboard is a metalic blue color. Same with the mouse. The special keys above are silver with rubbery feel. Can't judge battery life yet, but its been going for several days now.

I wonder if Microsoft will release the Wireless Desktop Pro (Split Keyboard) in blue tooth. (Crossing fingers)

Right, I want Microsoft to release the split keyboard in Bluetooth along with a cordless, rechargeable 5-button mouse. Now, that would make me look at it. Even if it was not Bluetooth, but standard wireless, I would like that combo.
MS are you listening???

Well, I just returned the Bluetooth combo today! Back to Bestbuy it went. The keyboard lag was unreal. It was like it went into power down mode, then would take a second or two to come back on. The mouse would lag only if moving it across the screen really fast (you would never move a mouse that fast I don't believe). Anyhow, the other thing that really kinda preturb me was the fact that you couldn't access the motherboard bios with the bluetooth keyboard. You would have to have a second keyboard plugged in to access it. Kind of a pain in the a$$... Anyhow, returning that, I netted myself the Logitech cordless access keyboard and the MX700 in exchange. Now now lag what so ever! Just thought I give a shout back letting you guys know my woes with the MS Bluetooth Wireless Desktop....

I"m thinkin about getting the optical wireless pro. I don't see why you'd want the bluetooth one though besides the looks. Things that require more bandwith are what bluetooth is really for (as well as wireless range, but most people don't need "that" much range).

I'm getting the MS Optical Wireless Pro tomorrow. I will report tomorrow evening and let you know how it is.

I also want the MS Wireless Optical Desktop Pro keyboard. My Logitech MX700 arrived today. There is NO LAG. Yes, it is a bit heavy, but the lack of a cord makes up for the weight. It charges fully very rapidly. The info said 2 hours; but, it was fully charged in 15 mintues. The forward and backward buttons on the side are just a bit farther back than I would like to have them. But, certainly useable enough. Wheel and other buttons are fine.
Let us know about the MS keyboard; I really want to go wireless fully.
