Logitech optical cursor stuttering

I have a logitech optical mouse and really like it. However, sometimes when sitting in one spot the cursor will wiggle back and forth ever so slighty. It is not the surface I am on because I have tried many different types and it does it on all of them. Even ones that are supposed to be "optical friendly". I even took the mouse back and got another one thinking it was a bad mouse, but the new one does it also.

It doesn't do it bad enough to get rid of the mouse, but it sure would be nice if there was a fix for it. Unfortunately, Logitech's tech help is worse than worthless. I tried to get some help out of the a few months ago and had a completely time consuming and fruitless experience.

Thanks.

Nemi I Also Have a logitech optical & Have absolutely 0 problems with it. I Have never seen my cursor move without reason. 1st question for you would be do you have it hooked up usb or PS2. I Am using usb & would sudgest going that way just so you done have to use that freeking usb to ps2 converter. I could see that causeing problems just cause its making 6 pins into 9.

I remember that with some of the Nvidia drivers, it used to cause that. I had the same thing happen with my Mouseman Wheel using 6.18 drivers and it was cured after going to the 6.34s. It might be the problem if you have a GeForce. Seems to only happen in WinMe also.

I got the same mouse, and for a while it did that to me too. I was using the USB-PS2 converter, and it kept on doing that. Even after a reinstall of Windows, it did the same thing. That was when I had WinME. I reinstalled Win98, and it suddenly started to work. The problems I had with WinME also happened with the USB port. So I sold off my WinME upgrade and I happily in Win98 with a working mouse.

I have Win98SE, and am using the Logitech Optical Mouse with the PS2 converter.

I had a slight stuttering problem in Diablo2 when I was using my desk (same problem on USB) but when I put a mouse pad under it it's been perfectly fine.

That is the only slight problem I've had with it, but my desk has a very very shiny finish on it and they aren't suppose to work on shiny surfaces so I'm not to worried about it.

Other than that it's been 100% perfect, maybe you got a bad one?

I'm using WIN98 and a USB and I get the same wiggle once in a while from it.

You're right, Nemi...it only happens while the mouse is idle. Once I touch it, it goes away.

Using ATI Rage 128 and MS HID compliant mouse drivers.

My logitech optical mouse likes to die about every 10-15 minutes on me when I use the USB port. However, using the PS/2 converter I have that "wiggle" problem... geez, you never win. Anyone know what could be causing my USB problem? This happened in windows 98 also. It's like the power gets cut off randomly every once in a while and the red light goes out and I have no reaction to the mouse. If I unplug it and plug it back in it will work again, but then it would just die in another 10-15 minutes.. arg!

I've got the same problem: when I turn the monitor back on after leaving the computer on overnight, the mouse cursor stutters until I move the mouse. I've tried reinstalling the drivers etc. to no avail. I have a GeForce 2 MX with the latest det drivers and Win 98.

From what I'm seeing, W98 still has some problems with USB. Whether it's mice or printers, they're there and I blame it on driver support for the actual added peripheral.

I too am using USB. Seems as if I'm not the only person having these problems. Hopefully they will be able to correct it with a software upgrade.

Win98
SB live
TNT2 ultra (Soon to be a GeForce mx)

<< 3.68 drivers (Any of the later drivers made 1/2-lifes screen freeze when I pressed the shift key, which is what I had to assign the thumb button to because it is the only key that will work in Quake games. Go Figure) >>
