Logitech quality seems real low nowadays

I remember 7-8 years ago I had a Logitech Anywhere MX mouse. It was supposed to be top notch. It came with a carry case. It was heavy, had a sensor shutter. A lot of metal was used in the mouse. It felt like quality.

Well that mouse started to get cruddy and the wheel seemed to stop working properly.

I bought a new Logitech Anywhere MX 2. This whole mouse feels like a chunk of plastic. The only metal used is the wheel. The underside has no shutter and there is no place to store the reciever dongle!

Seems like many of their mouse are pretty poor quality.

Tell me about it. I have been using their thumb trackballs(Trackman/m570) for 15ish years. The Trackmans would last 5ish years, but the m570 has a notorious reputation for the mouse switches to wear out within 1 year. I will continue to use the m570, but I am very disappointed with the decline in quality.

No one makes a similar trackball, so for me there's no one. For regular Mice, not sure but suspect any recognizable brand can't be worse.

I've had high brand loyalty to logitech, but now I'm thinking I need to find another company. We are talking a rechargeable, bluetooth, anywhere use (even glass) mouse. I know Microsoft makes them too, but never researched....

Yeah i agree, i just bought a wireless keyboard/trackpad and it weighs nothing and feels like the first time a drop it its going to explode into 10,000 pieces. They sure arnt building things to last like they used to.

I just bought a Logitech C920 camera and the picture quality is excellent. This compliments the G910 Oriion Spark kb and the G700s wireless mouse I'm using that are both of superior quality. I am a heavy user and these units are holding up just fine and if I need a replacement I will go buy another Logitech product.

I heard about declining quality of Logitech products. I've got a Logitech MX Master mouse going strong on close to 2 years now. I'm happy. Just don't use the side wheel. Love the middle wheel with the clutch. Hate using other mice now.

They force plastic on us but don't even give us the "good" plastic. (They will argue it's about weight reduction and extending the battery life.)

Any-who my new Logitech M705 is decent enough.

I wouldn't know... my Logitech G5 is still kicking even though I kind of want it to die. It's been a decade at this point, probably.

I don't think I've actually had a logitech mouse go belly up on me, goes for bother older and newer models.

I don't think I've bought anything made by Logitech except for mice in the last 20 years. I had an M525 wireless mouse die after three or four years of heavy use (left button stopped working) and went out the same day and bought another. If this one died today, I'd have another one before the stores closed.

You bought a low end mouse and were surprised it died?

The mid/high end logitechs use decent switches, I've never lost a button before an upgrade cycle.

Btw its a gamer thing to hate heavy mice op, weight has always been artificial, its not quality but metal weights inside.

Metal on mx mice is likely a veneer.

Major quality improvement is that the rubberized mouse surfaces no longer melt, nothing is worse than a sticky mouse.

Their office grade mice tend to be crippled by low polling rates, poor button placements(for gaming) and reduced functionality software. Their game grade stuff is still top notch.

IMO Logitech today is a mixed bag of leftover quality products, and new cheap products.

Buyer beware.

Huh?

Not at all surprised, as I used the hell out of it. I love this mouse, or I wouldn't have bought another one to replace the first.

Those trackballs are awesome its why its so tragic that they are built like low-end hp printers these days. If its just the button switches wearing out, I would look into modding them with omrons or something. If its the little glide balls under the trackball then yeah that's just sad.

G502 is a great mouse, just wish the scroll wheel was a bit smaller. The sensor and switches are fantastic.

My current Logitech mouse is a basic 3-button model with no fancy features at all. It cost the princely sum of $9.97 delivered in August 2010 and it's still great despite heavy use.

I've got G700s's for mice at home and work. G910 at home, G510s at work for keyboards. The G510s and one of the G700s's are a year old. The other G700s is pushing 4 years. Don't recall when I got the G910 but it's relatively recent. No issues with any of them. Certainly happier with them any any of my Razer keyboards or mice.

My MX1000 mouse lasted a decade before the left button stopped working. I had to take apart the mouse and clean the scroll wheel once every few years. But aside from that, it's served me incredibly well. Logitech's service is top notch. I got the MX1000 for free from them when my MX700 was making clicking noises while charging.

My current G602 mouse isn't working as well. The side button often repeats many times with a single click.
