Pricey -- $100

Looks great has long as hell battery life.
It comes with a small USB receiver
The new mouse-wheel feels very high quality. You can make it have a ball bearing feel if you press it 1nce -- makes for super fast scrolling, again for normal use.
The new thumb wheel is also very cool and HQ -- though I'm thinking up some uses for it now since its basically alt+tab. The Search button is also useless unless you assign it some better function like Ctrl+C

Has both a forward and back button for 'net use.

So far I'm very impressed. I say if you have the money, buy it.

i just picked this up today, been using an mx1000 for quite awhile before.

first impressions:

pros
1) i enjoy the lower profile of the mx revo b/c it puts less pressure on the middle of my palm
2) i'm definitely a fan of the new scroll wheel...it's sooo much easier to scroll long pages (hard to explain, but you'll have to try to see)
3) reception is better than the mx1000...it used to be i had to have the receiver w/in direct line of sight, but the new 2.4 gHz receiver eliminates that

cons
1) if i move it quickly, it feels like there a big metal bolt loose inside the mouse...can't figure out if this is normal or not (gersson? u have this problem?)
2) the redesigned thumb buttons don't really do anything new compared to the mx1000
3) it's expensive

What's the news on this thing? I just recently checked logitech's website and they had this new mouse there... and what's the difference between this and a G7 anyway?

I picked one up last weekend, I'm coming from a MX1000. Here are my comments.

Good
- Great feel and ergonomics.
- Much better wireless reception and at a longer distance.
- Weighted mouse wheel... very cool. And if you don't like it you simply click it and it becomes 'stepped', like a standard wheel.

Bad
- Lighter weight than the MX1000
- Even at 800 DPI it feels less accurate than the MX1000.
- Very limited software options, no middle mouse button config., and no extra options for the side wheel.
- Less buttons and less software configurations than the MX1000.

Honestly I'm not sure I like it. The good things were weak spots on the MX1000 and those fixes are amazing. But the bad things make it feel like a step backward. I'm going to give it another week and see how it pans out. If you're not a gamer then it's probably a great choice.

Thanks for the comparison. I was going to get to "upgrade" from the MX1000. I really don't have any complaints of the MX1000, so I 'll put my curiosity away.

Thanks also for the comparison. If you can't reprogram the side switch, then it's a no go for me. I use my thumb buttons currently for Backward, Home and End. The MX Revolution looked good b/c I could now also have a Forward button. I'll stick with my MX1000 also for a while longer.
