Logitech To Introduce New Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, the Logitech G710

Now all I want Logitech to do is release a mechanical version of their G13 gamepad. I have the Das Keyboard II and have no reason to switch to another keyboard.

It doesn't compare. The K90 is why the universe exists. Only another K90 can compete with a K90.

BTW, does the Logitech have onboard memory for macros or is it just software? (edit: my bad, forgot the review said there was, albeit with significantly reduced functionality.)

All manufacturers are still more or less just copying one another. I'd need to see fully programmable (all keys not just macro keys), split design, Bluetooth, etc. offerings, or drastic positive layout changes like multiple thumb keys to have reason to buy another keyboard.

Don't be surprised when you find yourself getting aroused by that K90. You made the best possible choice out of many choices. This is rare. Be proud of that.

The Das Keyboard with the blue switches is less than the G710...and better, since it's blue switches.

The leopold is even less money. So are the Filcos, I think.

Why does every gaming keyboard have to be full width? It's a waste of space and spaces your arms too far. The arrow keys and cluster at the top are unnecessary. Move them and bring the numpad closer, or put the numpad on the left.

I also don't understand why anyone would buy one of these huge, tacky big-brand mechanicals when there are so many fine choices from dedicated keyboard manufacturers at the same or lower price. Brand familiarity I guess?

I use a full 101 for both work and play and have absolutely no issues with my 'arms being too far apart'. What are you, an oompa-loompa? T-rex?

As for the look, not everyone is a fan of that minimalistic-1980s IBM keyboard vibe (Ducky, Filcos, etc). This might go to the other extreme but it'll certainly find a market.

that being said I think all those boards are too big and frivolous for most gaming and would much rather see more tenkeyless/compact options

yeah, it sucks i had to go with a keyboard direct from china, from a chinese manufacturer, just to get a decent mechanical keyboard under 12" long, for less than $100.
