Logitech Unifying receiver only works well on one USB port

I just built a new PC with Gigabyte Z87M-DH3 motherboard. The Logitech Unifying receiver I've been using on my old PC only works well in the front USB port. The rest of the USB 2.0 and 3.0 in the back DO NOT work well at all. The mouse / keyboard hardly work. You have to press a button on the keyboard 10 times for it to type it. It only works good in the front USB.

What would cause this? I even tried a different Logitech receiver, same issue.

One temporary fix is to plug the Logitech unifying receiver into a front USB 2.0 port.

With my m570 wireless trackball, it would work most of the time but have breaks in tracking when plug into the back of my pc. I fixed it by using a usb extention cable to move it closer to the trackball. Logitech even gave out free usb extension cables to people who had wireless devices.

The distance from the back of my pc to the trackball was about 4 feet. After extending it, it's 4 inches away and performance is perfect.

So the tiny unifying recievers are the issue. They are good for laptops where you use the device right next to it but bad for desktops with the amount of radio waves (in 2.4ghz range, wifi/etc) possible around a modern pc. That and the metal computer case itself reducing the usable range significantly.
