my vx nano came this morning, here are my initial impressions

not as sturdy as i expected for $51. the l/r buttons are looser than i expected. they click way too easily and wobble up and down without acually clicking it. i feel that it is too fragile to just throw into the case and into my bag. i will try to keep it on top of all my gear (water bottle, ti-83, lotion, power adapter), so i dont crush it.

i have small hands (i'm 5'6) and i still have to use the "fingertip grip," i wanted to be able to palm the mouse and use the flat part of my fingers to press the L/R buttons.

the back/fwd buttons work well, it'll take about a week to get used to.

the nano adapter is great, but i wish it would go in about 10% more, i still see a bit of the silver from the usb from a bird's-eye view. i'd like to see only the red+black part. my sleeve is very tight on the sides. (singpeak 12.1in widescreen sleeve)

notes:
does anyone know what that very small 'nub" is under the search button? it is about 1/4cm in diameter.

i installed setpoint 4.60, over the default, the software lets me: check battery life (says 170days with their new included batteries, est 3.5 months.) the software also let me change the "search button" under the scroll wheel to perform a google search. waht do u guys set that middle button for?

I have two Nano VX's, and they are both outstanding. The left and right buttons are as good as I have on any mouse to date. No problems on sensitivity. When I travel I always place the xmttr/rcver unit in its bed inside the mouse, and it in turn goes into a soft case. I have no clue as to the nub you are referring to - I don't use any of those "extra" buttons.

What I really like is the battery life - even when I forget to turn them off - they sleep.

look at the scrool wheel, then move down, to the search button, then move down again. there is a very small dot under that button.

Whats this thing?

OK - I see what you are referring to. It is not a button. It is a LED that glows red when you have a low battery, and is green when OK.

Personally I absolutely love the mouse, but you're right, it definitely is a fingertip mouse and not a palm mouse at all. If you're a claw-grip user, then it's perfect, but if you palm-grip your mouse, then I'd look at the VX revolution.

mine does NOT glow green even with fresh batteries. i'm still on my first set of batts so i've never seen the red... is the LED dead out of the box?

I think it only glows green when you first turn it on, afterwards it turns off to save power. It'll only turn red when your batteries are low.

Correct! If you turn the mouse OFF using the membrane switch on the back, it will be green then fade away. Turn it on and it will turn green and be visible from the top. But - after about 10 seconds it turns off to preserve battery power. It then stays OFF even when you move the mouse.
