I'm sitting here with old 2.1's from the defunct 'Audiophile' brand, and Klipsch 5.1's that blew the power supply (a common problem apparently), and I should close it too.

What!?!?! I paid ~$200 for my G500's a few years ago. I love them but dang, $60 would be nice.

I have had them for the past 4 years, these speakers are the best in quality and top notch compared to anything in its category (PC speakers for gaming, music and movies) and its price range! also logitech tech support is SUPERB!

PS- after you get the speakers, never switch off the sub woofer manually from the switch located behind the Sub, even if it is not being used in the night, the fuse tends to blow up, replacement fuse costs like $2, but is a hassle to find as logitech will give you the specs of the fuse, but wont sell them!

Why the hell would you buy this instead of the Onkyo 3300?

For one thing, the onkyo does not have analog 5.1 inputs so you cannot hook it up to your pc in 5.1 sound. The 505watt power is rms not peek power, and it comes with a 188 watt rms sub. I have owned this and I have now a Onkyo tx-sr606 and wish everyday I didnt go selling off my z5500 set. I run 2 huge 15" sub speakers, and bic 15" 200 watt sub, and its not even close to what the Z5500 sounded like, a real butt kicker and wish I had the funds to pick this up and sell off my HT system I have now.

I jumped on this deal. I actually have the previous generation of this speaker setup, the Z-680s, and they have served me well (7+ years). I have always had the hiss on low volume (problem on early control units) but I have never really been bothered by it. However, the control unit is not working well anymore and I have not been able to find a new control unit for purchase. Hopefully, this new system will serve me well for the next 7+ years.

Yeah, I bought it too. After thinking about it since Friday I decided to jump on it. Right now I don't have external speakers hooked up to my computer (all headphones) so this will be a huge change. Also, it will allow me to hook in an HD cable box and my 360/PS3 when I don't want to hook them up out in the living room to my U2410.

The only problem with a set like this, vs a receiver and speakers is if something breaks, for instance, the power button or volume knob, and its off warranty, you have junk. This happened to me and I disected it and the build quality is not that great inside (plastic sub ports that wind around like in a bose radio, etc, and totallly non repairable. They do sound great while they last though. However if you buy speakers and a receiver and a speaker or the amp goes bad, you just replace or repair that piece. Just my opinion. I think my onkyo and polk speakers blow these away totally but way more money initially.
