I think I am missing something here. How can the Z-640 be a 5.1 solution and be less than half the price of the older 4.1 Z-560's?

I agree with DealMonkey...what's the problem with the 640's? They're $61 at techsavings.com, of course there's shipping, but that's a great deal! And the other set may be around $400? Are they really worth that much more? It kinda seems like buying a $400 video card instead of a $120 video card. I'm interested in the 640's....I only have a 2.1 set now...but I have an Audigy now, and ..well who cares..it's a dorm room, but I want some 5.1 sound!

Nice speakers.
Just a question, won't these be a better buy ?
Kenwood HTB 505
At $377 plus shipping you get 100W/chanel receiver and ( decent 2 way ) speakers .. and the 8" sub real good.
Read the reviews at Audio Review ...
Although not THX certified but when you put that sub to work while fragging in UT, your ears ask for mercy.
You can setup this one for your desktop use with ease and enjoy 100W per channel on your table top ( front mains a little big I admit )
In the sub $400 budget, these kick azz ..

I own both the Logitech 560s and Promedia 4.1s. And although the 560s are extremely impressive they by no means beat out the Klipsch speakers. With the 560s you get the highs and lows really well but the Promedia's deliver the entire experience.Originally posted by: agent2099
Well the 560s easily beat out the Promedia 4.1s (not the 5.1s). So I don't think it will be that hard a task for 680s Zs to take over the 5.1 promedias.Originally posted by: guywithoutaclueanyone know when the z-680's are coming out? for $400 I'd get the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 ... these z680's can't possibly stay at $400 with the promedia's in the same class...
Just my 2 cents....
