Go check eBay's for completed auctions of Z-640s. Looks like you can still get some decent money for them... silly eBayers.

Which UPC did you guys send for the rebate? There's one on the box and outside cover. Will either one work? Thanks

Read carefuuly, the two UPC numbers are NOT the same. Use the one on the box , not teh cover.

Looks like Amazon doesn't have them anymore. They link to Office Depot where the rebate is NOT valid. Deal is possibly dead.

I noticed that the link at amazon is from office depot. Will this be a problem since the rebate says it excludes office depot?

The rebate is no good if the speakers are purchased from the major chains...Office Deport, Compusa, etc...GP

Damn, this looks like such a good deal, but I'm really looking for a 5.1 system...any way of buying 2-3 of these and hooking them up for a 5.1 system?

Yes it is possible. Your soundcard must support it though (it must have analog outputs for the front/rear/center channels).

I'm guessing the Audigy2 ZS would support this? Anyway, would I be missing out on any DD/DTS decoding? Also, do the rebates work for more than 1 piece?

No. the subwoofer only has 2 outputs.

I thought you can? I was under the assumption that if your soundcard supported analog outputs for the front/rear/center channels you could hook 3 sets of speakers (one for each output).

Obviously you cannot directly connect the 3 sets of speakers to get 5.1/6.1 sound (in other words, a single subwoofer can't support all channels), but if your soundcard has three analog outputs you should be able to....

Hook one set up to the front output, one set up to the rear output, and one set up to the center output. The soundcard will have to take care of all the decoding. If you did this, you would have one bad azz set up!:
1) One subwoofer and two sattelites for the center channel
2) One subwoofer and two sattelites for the front right/front left channels
3) One subwoofer and two sattelites for the rear right/rear left channels

This would be a 5.1 setup; 5 discrete audio channels and one LFE channel....but boy oh boy....with 3 8" drivers, that would be a pretty loud LFE channel!

Oh...and yes...the Audigy 2ZS should be more than capable of supporting this. Just check your sound card for the three aformentioned analog outputs.

ChoppedBroccoli, that's what I'm thinking of too. Might be a bit extravagant heh. Now I'm just wondering if I'll be able to use 3 rebates on 3 of them...if I could, I'd be hard pressed to find a better 5.1-7.1 speaker system for $150

Like I said, a 6.3 setup

I'm not sure if it is 'technically' considered a 6.3 setup (although I may be wrong). Going from other forums I've visited, namely Klipsch's forums, 6.3 would indicate 3 discrete LFE channels...Where as the system noted above is really a 5.1 (one discrete LFE channel), .... but that one LFE channel will be loud as heII!

Also, the center channel may have two sattelites, but they are playing the same channel, so it realy only counts as one channel.

However, from what I know, the Audigy 2ZS has 6+ channel output, so maybe 6.1 is possible with three sets of these.

Whatever the technical term is to describe this...I know one thing...I'm extremely jealous of whoever decides to mate 3 sets of Z2200 to an Audigy 2ZS!
