On paper, the ACS56's are better.
I never heard the Z540's, so that's all I can base it on.

ACS56: 70 watts RMS (35 watts sub)
Z540: 40 watts RMS (20 watts sub)

I got the ACS56's for $60 shipped (new) a couple of months back, and they are a decent budget gaming system.
(TCWO $88 + $7 shipping, AMEX PM to $54 shady site).

I also have the Z560's, just so that you know what kind of firsthand experience I have with computer speakers.

But the Z540's are getting good reviews for budget speakers in its price range, so good deal

these speakers are great, i got them a month back at OD for $80 and worth every penny, go with these if you dont need the 400watts of the z560, i got these since i would get yelled at by my folks with the z560 , for $47 defaintley worth it.
