VERY HOT deal! Thanks!

In stock for $199 at Longview TX

Update: They JUST sold out of them as I got there to purchase them ;/

However, they did offer me a 10% (what a crock) on the floor set/demo unit but I didn't buy them cause they looked too dirty and grimey.

PS- Hi rcrooks!

I used to live in Nashville, and yes, you did have 9.25% Sales Tax, but don't forget that you don't pay any Income Tax! I order all my expensive stuff online, so it benefitted me a lot more than here in Virginia where I pay 4.5% Sales Tax, but Income Tax on top of that.
Yes, but isn't it true that some states paying income tax do not pay sales tax on items such as food and clothing? We're paying sales tax on anything and everythign here...

And let's not forget that state income tax is deductible from you federal income tax. If you support you state entirely through a sales tax, then you don't get to deduct that. I don't understand how people living in Tennessee think not paying income tax, and having a sky high sales tax is such a great deal. It is especially bad if you make a large purchase like a car, because you get taxed on that and then wind up having to pay interest on the tax. When you compare how much more you pay in tax compared with someone making the same income in VA, you'll see you're getting really screwed. The biggest problem with getting state revenue on sales tax is that it is a regressive tax, and it hits a single mom trying to make ends meet much harder than it hits a wealthy person buying expensive clothing. Even though the wealthy person pays more money, the poor person gives up a larger percentage of their income.

When I lived there the sales tax sucked, and that was before it went up to 9.25%. I live in Washington now, and the sales tax is ALMOST as high, but at least they have the decency not to tax most food, so it impacts the lower classes less than it does in Tennessee (since most people below the poverty line statistically tend to be single moms and they spend a LOT of their income on food for their kids).

For people in Orange County, CA:
I saw one Z680 in BB SCP. The BB in Mission Viejo report that they have one in stock, but they have been unable to find it (excellent opportunity for those trying to PM at CC)

BTW, no hissing from my Z680s.

Does anyone have an Audigy 2 ZS hooked up to these speakers using a digital coax cable? I was interested in knowing where and how do you get get the mini-plug to coax RCA cable?

Im going to have this same setup (with the ZS and 680s), but over at FW (same thread) someone had said that using a digital interface is not operable for gaming/direct3d sound.

So Im not sure what the h3ll to believe.

It's true that a digtal interface will not give you multi-channel sound on anything but the Soundstorm. Alternatively you could run both digital and analog lines between your computer and the pod and then switch between the digital for music and analog for games.

If you want to hook up the digital output from the audigy (I think it uses a 1/8" mini jack like the live 5.1) use a phono to 1/8" mini jack adapter. You can get them @ Radio Shack. 274-330 for chrome and 274-897 for gold plated. Use whatever matches your cable and jack, as dissimilar metals can speed up corrosion. Not that this will be a problem in the short term (especially indoors) but it's always a good idea to match if you can.

Well I got these last week and just now had time to hook them up!

BEWARE OF THE 1.0.3 Pods!!!

I got the 1.0.3 Pods and they do "hiss" although I can't really say if it is enough to bother me as my micron netframe server is much louder. Does getting the new pod solve all the problem or just some of it? I have read some posts saying that Logitech didn't really fix the problem only made it less noticeable and some felt it was bad for the overall sound. Any thoughts?

<edit> thanks to the OP!

I never heard the earlier pods, but I still couldn't stand the hiss of the 3 sets of z680s I listened to, all with v1.1.2 pods.

That's weird, so apparently it never has been corrected! Something just doesn't seem right about speakers with a MSRP of $399.00 that hiss, perhaps this is why Best Buy is getting rid of them. I'll give Logitech a call and if they can't correct it I'll take them back to Best Buy.

Thanks for the input!

Does anyone still have their receipt? Can someone scan their receipt for me because I am looking to PM a Circuit City because all Best Buys are sold out at this point. Thanks.

Great Speakers, I have them and they do hiss. I can only notice the hiss if i am about six inches from the speakers...Even if you have speakers that hiss if you set them up properly and have them the correct distances you should not notices the hiss...Now of course if you are Obsessive-Compulsive then these speakers will be the end of you...

Go these speakers at BBY in Shreveport just before Christmas. Bundled with a Prefered Customer Coupon Discount of 10%.
$179.99 was excellent for these speakers.

Now all I need is a sound card so i can get true digital 5.1. I have the Live, the Audigy2 will give you full 5.1 digital by changing the drivers... but Id like one that natively supports it. hmmm Maybe this year will bring a new set of sound cards for my consumption.

Best Buy is probably dumping their inventory of the first production runs of the Z-680's. I bought mine new online for a higher price, but they have no hiss at all and sound great.

First production runs? Those sold out ages ago.

They are dumping inventory to make room for newer models.
