Yeah we did that in college. And then shut off power to their room. Since everyone only had cordless phones, all they could do is yell out their window to try to get help.

Explain how this works?

You jam pennies between the door and the door jamb. That pushes the door latch up against the latch plate, and friction makes it almost impossible to turn the door knob.

Or one time we just used rope to tie one guy's door knob to the door knob across the hall. That worked pretty well.

You could get in serious trouble for locking someone in their room though, because of fires and whatnot.

It took you until November to figure that out? I don't think you should be calling yourself an engineering student, but loser certainly applies.

My God! There is a dormitory full of horny women and you guys are doing this? (On a Friday night no less)

lol the ratio here is 70m:30f, and the majority of the girls aren't that appealing...and I have a gf at home I'd give anything for, so yes, we are doing this on a Friday night.

Picture a wire hanger shaped like a L with a hook on the end. you slide it under the door then rotate it up.

You can also defeat non-deadbolt with flat metal or a wire slid behind the latch. As IS, part of your 'job description' is being asked can you get in my office I lost my key. Thank god for businesses that use master key systems.

I pulled alot of tricks as a kid with doors on houses...I would take their trash can and hang it on their door handle then fill it with water...on the double doors with wrap around handles jamming their newspapers in it usually did the trick. If you know the neighborhood uses single sliding doors in the back you can just throw a 2x4 cut to fit in it.

I do admit it was bad to do this because if a fire broke out they'd be trapped, but I always waited for the results...

A college student I know locked himself out of his place and tried the credit card thing, since he had heard that you can use a credit card to get in if the door is locked. But he was unsuccessful - as he explained, he couldn't figure out who to pay with the credit card.

yep, couple others already got the penny idea, by forcing pressure on the bolt and effectively locking the door.

as for the 33 rpm covers: remove records and open the cover, then fill with shaving cream. carefully pinch the now filled album cover and just barely slide it beneath a person's door, then knock on the door. as soon as the door knob turns or rattles, stomp very hard on the cream filled album cover, forcing the shaving cream out into the other room and splattering person who is just openning door. A clear retreat path is very wise.

who knows about the lifesaver candies and the shower??? always enjoyed that one.

I remember my freshman year we used to put rocks under the door leading outside, the way the door and concrete met, meant that a properly sized small rock could be placed there and anyone trying to get out could push with all their might and the door wouldnt budge....it was comical cuz we'd only do it to one of the two doors. Watching them kick, yell, run into, charge etc the door was hilarious

We also messed with our RA once by doing the old penny trick after he showered. Hehe he was only in a towel trying like mad to get in his room

Then there was the sex room...this empty dorm 2 doors down from me, that for whatever reason had an unlocked door. Needless to say it was a well kept secret from the RAs that the door was unlocked and people would go in there to do the naughty almost every night

Loser engineers.

Not all doors are handles, some are knobs..

No, most nowadays have to be handles due to ADA legislation.

ZING!

You're an idiot, not all of us are in the states.

Go complain about your parents.

YOU'RE making a sarcastic comment about complaining about parents?

Now days you can use a 8 x 10 envelope or larger. Fill with shaving cream. Slide envelope under door. Knock on door. As soon as the door know turns or rattles slam the envelope with a text book. Run.

That's the way we did it in college.

Leaning a trashcan full of water against the door works too... I got a concussion out of that one.

I wish I lived in the dorms...looking back I should have.

At UF back in 1993 or so, you shared a kitchen with both the guys and the girls. Right outside that kitchen/common lounge were the showers. There was a door with a window on each side.

I spent a few days there, and having a chick or guy who's towel dropped while trying to get breakfast on wasn't rare.

I know it was against the 'rules' but one night 3 chicks showed up to cook topless and in thongs, thighhighs and heels.

That same night Jethro-Tull kept us awake.

I really wish I did a couple years in the dorms.

It's funnier to reverse people's peep holes on their doors and make a sign that says "free peep show" with arrows pointed to the eyehole.

Opening someone's door like that would make me hate a person, because if the wrong people get in your room, they could steal a bunch of crap.

How do you reverse a peephole without access inside?

With roommate's help, of course

Pssssshhh I never did that. That was the guy next to me.

He was a religious nut case and insisted people were spying on him.

His whole dorm room had hidden cameras.

Actually one thing we did do, was since our dorms had wireless internet ONLY and the connection was so piss poor we had one of our friends who worked at CompUSA get the best 4-port router(something like this) he could find plus about a 100 foot roll of CAT5 cable that we cut and crimped on our own, then ran all the cabling back to our rooms and respective computers.

Funny part is the internet worked better since the router was right next to the wireless box and the university tried to tell us it was illegal but there was nothing specific about it in the rulebook, plus the IT guy for the university said he didnt care cuz he would have done the same thing.

i cant believe i hadnt thought of that coathanger trick underneath the door.

in our dorm we managed to get into all the maintenance closets. we had cards and coathangers to flip latches with. they were all circular handles, so it was much harder to get into students rooms, basically because the doors were designed to you couldnt squeeze something in there to flip the latch.

each floor had locked doors going to them. for some reason my key worked on half of the girls floors. so the guys would use my key to pull pranks on their floor, it was great!
girls would leave their room doors unlocked (because the hallway was supposedly locked off) so theyd go in their rooms and scare them while they were sleeping.

one night we had a water fight. the lounges were sopping wet afterwards.
