Or maybe folks heard the Democratic message and decided "nope not interested." That happens sometimes too, people aren't obliged to want what you're selling every single time even if they've bought before and are generally OK with your product. I love salads but sometimes I want a hamburger instead, and it has nothing to do with Russians influencing me. Or sometimes when offered two equally undesirable options instead of the haggis I've had before and disliked (Clinton), I'll pick the surstromming (Trump) which I haven't tried before even though it sounds totally gross.

And some people prefer poison over water. The product that Putin sold America was for the benefit of Russia, not the US. anyone who actually gives two shits about democracy and the strength of our nation should have seen the product for what it was, immoral, lying, and destructive.

Meh, the public generally strongly agrees with Democratic policies. That’s why conservatives rely almost entirely on identity politics in their appeals. That’s why (in a broad sense) you see democrats debate amongst themselves who supports UHC or whatever and Republicans debate who is a ‘true conservative’. Identity politics. Russia ramped up the identity politics and it worked.

I always find it ironic that Republicans accuse democrats of identity politics when they’d basically all they do. More projection I guess.

I mean, it's not like we don't have this last several decades of history of republicans actually proposing and enacting policy or anything. You know, when you can convince your rabble that obstruction is the same as policy, you've pretty much got them capable of believing anything you feed them.

What other countries do you think interfered in our elections and how?

If I am not mistaken, there is no doubt "Russians" interfered with the election. I am not sure "Russia" itself interfered, I believe the ties to Russian agencies are only suspected.

With that being said, I am not sure what the bar is for interference, is it simply because foreign nationals purchasing advertising and did not run the money through the campaign process? Or is it an ethical standard with regard to how blatantly wrong the information is? If that is the case, infowars runs a much larger disinformation campaign on US soil than Russia could ever dream of.

Are there any foreign nationals of other countries that actively donate to campaigns or are involved in our political process at all? The idea is basically the same it is just that the Russians operated it illegally.

Oh, we can only talk about bots on Twitter ?
Yeah. That's terrible. Something really needs to be done about bots on Twitter. Otherwise it's the end of the world.

Your country is run by a idiot. A malicious idiot.
Your country is slowing moving towards fascism. (I'm happy to explain, in case you hadn't noticed yourself).
One of the two parties in your country is already behaving like fascists.
The fascists already have a very firm grip on your press. There's a hardly any true free press left.
Half your fellow citizens voted for Trump.
Half your fellow citizens are cheering on the sidelines while your country moves towards fascism.

But yeah, twitter. Terrible.

Who gives a fuck ?
It's twitter.
Only idiots go there.

Get your priorities straight.
And your number one priority is not Ze Russians.
notice how it is "your country" and not "our country"

and this poster is sympathetic to Russia...as evidenced in his earlier posts.

I am convinced that there are Russian Trolls on AT. With new accounts and hijacked old accounts
There is an account that was all against Hillary on everything and perpetually picked controversial topics that’s either this side or that side. No middle ground ever.
Looked into that account and it was active in video cards & gaming, took a 3 or 4 year hiatus, then returned spoke about video cards for a few days/weeks, then stopped all talk but anti Hillary stuff and super hot button issues.
Maybe it’s just a guy who posted as a young adult and now is an adult but I find the hiatus and faux interest in previous stuff very suspicious.

It is illegal for political candidates to accept any gift of material value from foreigners, particularly foreign govts. Trying to put it off as maybe not the Russian govt is quite lame. That runs contrary to all the honest findings we have so far.

That's particularly true when the lines between the Russian Govt & Oligarchy are indeterminate.

I am referring to the Mueller charging documents.

It is illegal for foreign nationals to purchase advertising, including on social media platforms like Facebook, meant to influence a U.S. election.

What exactly are you referring to?

I'm referring to the notion that maybe it was just Russians rather than the Russian govt. The efforts were extremely widespread & sophisticated. They were also used in other European elections, as well.

I mean, you gotta ask yourself why anybody other than the Putin govt would want an incompetent havoc generator in the Presidency.

In case you haven't noticed, a large percentage of posters on AT are not from the US. I'm one them.
And no, that doesn't mean we're all Russians.

and this poster is sympathetic to Russia...as evidenced in his earlier posts.
And no, when someone criticizes the US, that doesn't mean he's automatically sympathetic to Russia.
I'm not sympathetic to Russia. I just don't want another Cold War.
Russia is not my friend, but it also not my enemy.
We're not at war with Russia. The US is also not at war with Russia.
And if you claim that is only so because Trump is your president: Obama also wasn't at war with Russia. And last time I checked, even the Democrats are not at war with Russia.

The root cause of your problems in the US is the fact that the majority of Americans are stupid.
About half of you voted for Trump.
And that was not "because of ze Russians". Real Americans have voted Trump as their leader. Intentionally.
There's your problem. Fix that.

Blaming Russia is just sticking your head in the sand. Take some responsibility.
Here's something I found in 2 seconds via google.
(Note, google and techcrunch are not Russian websites. They are not paid for by Russia. Good enough for ya ?)
https://techcrunch.com/2017/11/01/russian-facebook-ad-spend/

Trump and Clinton spent $81M on US election Facebook ads, Russian agency $46K

If you are worried about false propaganda, maybe worry about how US politics is bought by big money.
There, that's another reason for your problems.
The Cambridge Analytica scandal was a joined UK/US effort.
Fox News (the largest fascist propaganda station in the world) is founded and owned by an Australian.
Blaming all your problems on Russia is the lamest excuse you can think of.
Grow a pair. Take some responsibility.

And most import, make sure the Democrats come up with a decent candidate for the elections in 2020. Bill Clinton was maybe the best president you had since WWII. Obama was a bit disappointing, imho. But he was still 10x better than Dubya, and 1000x better than Trump. Find someone like that again. Make sure the Democrats have a proper story to tell. Don't let the Republicans rob you another time. Fight the real fight. The Republicans are the enemy. The Republicans are the true danger to the average American citizen. Don't blame the Russians.

The reason I am posting here on the subject is because your Orange Fucktard actually has an impact on my life. He's trying to force other countries to do things they otherwise wouldn't do. Like increasing military spending. The US sometimes sets bad examples that our politicians follow. Our healthcare system took a few steps back 1-2 decades ago, because our right-wing bastards succeeded in partially privatizing health-insurance. Your dumb wars in Iraq and Syria caused a refugee crisis in the EU. Etc, etc. Your fuckups have an impact on my life. And I can't vote to correct it.

It was the conclusion of the entire US intelligence community that it was the Russian government.

https://www.dni.gov/files/documents/ICA_2017_01.pdf

I guess for what it is worth, the statement is at least partially, maybe mostly true. Hard to say if the trolls themselves are Russia, as the paper calls them "quasi-government".

But like I said previously, are no other foreign nationals guilty of influencing elections? Most of them have to end up becoming US citizens to do that - ie. Rupert Murdoch with his news stations, Soros and his NGOs, etc.

You just don't understand. These weren't just Russians, they were Russian "Mind Benders". These guys are like the love children of Gandalf and Professor X. Even people that never saw one of their ads were affected. Tens of thousands of low IQ citizens were brain melted into voting for Trump, just by knowing people that had been subverted.
2016 will go down in history as the first election changed by zombies.

I'm guessing you fundamentally believe that Hillary Clinton committed high crimes somewhere, somehow, and must be prosecuted for something. Uranium? emails? Bengazi? Something, right?

Basically, if you believe in your soul that Hillary is guilty of such things that she has never been charged for, has been generally cleared of, then yeah: you are fundamentally brain-fucked. The brainfucked don't understand that they are brain-fucked, because they have been this way for years. They have been zombies for years and even decades. Just a prime source for simple manipulation.

It's a tough to pill to swallow and even harder one for society at large to fix. The human brain engages in very serious self-defense mode when challenged over the truths that it has constructed for itself. So with about 30 million or so perpetually brain-fucked zombies out there, completely unwilling to engage in the world as it actually is, the universal pool of facts and truths that daily govern human interaction, where is the hope? I know you can't possibly suggest what it takes to wake you out of your slumber, because that's not how anyone's brain works. It's up to the rest of the world to bring you back, clawing and screaming. Maybe it takes the GOP to finally step down and admit to the shit that they have been feeding you, the utter contempt they have you and yours. Maybe that's what it takes, but I kinda doubt it. The human brain will convince you that these very same people that you depend on to feed you lies as truth will have, somehow, suddenly been compromised.

I don't know man, I don't know...

It always surprises me how many of you fellows fall back on homosexual innuendo when you feel threatened. Am I supposed to feel emasculated, or are you actually accusing me of being a homosexual? Do you believe gay men to be weak and subservient? Or just inferior?

Because it is weak, think about it. Someone says

Russia attacked our election, all the intelligence community agrees the Russians wanted Trump elected

You: Meh a bunch of super villains made people into zombies but hey I see nothing wrong.

What you all don't seem to understand:

if you keep focusing on trying to impeach Trump,
and you keep trying to prove people have colluded with the Russians,
and if you keep blaming the Russians for US's shortcomings,
then:

1) a few irrelevant people might go to jail
2) Trump will never be impeached
3) Trump will run for the presidency in 2020
4) Trump will win
5) Trump will be your president until 2025
6) if you're unlucky, the Republicans will keep the house and senate for many more years
7) you'll still have a right-leaning Supreme Court for decades to come
8) in 2028, Ivanka will run for the presidency
8) Ivanka wins. Another Trump president until 2032 or 2036

But you don't get it.
You keep jumping and barking as a pack of wild puppies-dogs.
In the mean time, the Republicans are robbing the country blind.
And unfortunately, they will fuck up big parts of the world too.
(Wars, the crisis of 2008 hurt many countries, etc).
Focus on what's important. The whole Russia-story is just a distraction from the important stuff.

Again, only a fool illiterate in history (and reality for that matter) would believe that targeted advertising and viral propaganda does not work. Russian bots could make any issue they want trend with massive astroturfed hashtagging campaigns. BAck this up with few well placed posts and fake news stories and BOOM! It goes viral with all the little useful idiots.

The viral propaganda reached millions, many, many times over. It was carefully crafted and spread to create the sense of grassroots. Much like the current "walkaway" campaign we're seeing now which, without the massive russian bot hashtagging campaign, wouldn't even be on anyone's radar. Because other than a few long time hard alt-right YouTube folks making "walk away" videos and a shit ton of fake Russian social media accounts and a massive fake hashtagging boost, no one is "walking away."

That's the irony of this. We're actually right in the middle of one of their propaganda campaigns and you're too stupid to even see it,

But yeah, you keep right on believing that targeted propaganda and psyops campaigns don't work.

Keep being a useful idiot.

Oh, please. There's nothing supernatural or mythic about it. Both the Trump campaign & Russian support of it were brilliant exercises in the art of propaganda.

There was no way to differentiate them at the time or even now for that matter.
