Why no OTA on my 2013 Nexus 7 Wi-Fi only? Am I holding my mouth wrong or something?

Because Google still doesn't know how to roll out an OTA. Why/how they continuously botch every roll out is beyond me.

If apple can roll one out within a day or two to all of their devices (albeit sometimes buggy) I see no reason Google can't do the same to their MUCH smaller install base on Nexus devices.

I have been trying to find a compelling reason to upgrade to Lollipop.

...

That leaves two relatively solid features:

1. 64-bit and ART, performance enhancement
2. Project Volta

I ran Android 5 release for a week on my Nexus 5, and I didn't notice any improvement in battery efficiency, it was within my usual expectations (and I keep a pretty close eye on battery usage most of the time).

Haven't gotten an update on my Nexus 7 2013 yet; but my guess is Google will push 5.0.1 soon!

LOL. My Nexus 7 (2012) is still "up to date" with 4.4.4. I have never gotten the 5.0 update notification. It's been a month or so now.

At this point I may as well wait for 5.0.1.

I've just got a notification for 4.4.4 update on my Nexus 4. XD I have been running it on 4.3 with lots of stuff uninstalled/freezed/LTE enabled, and never felt the need to upgrade to 4.4 which I had on my Nexus 5. I thought OTA do not arrive on a modified system?

It does, but it can't install on the phone and it is annoying so I decided flash Lollipop for my Nexus 5.

I finally got the update notification today. It updated my Nexus 7 (2013) from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1.

I now have 5.0.1 on my M8. I like it. The new dialer is cool and the new notification bar is nice on a phone. Once I put the animations on 0.5 speed this thing flies. Even got new options in photo edit app. Two thumbs up, and I was scared.

any resolution yet to the issues with 5.0? 5.0.1 doesn't seem to be deployed everywhere yet. I checked google's factory images and the Nexus 4 is still on 5.0.

I suppose I'll just keep waiting and ignore the upgrade message my phone keeps pushing to me. Although I'd like to take advantage of better battery life, it seems like a moot point when some basic functionality may be crippled. The pain of downgrading will eat up more time than its worth.

It's the holidays. Things are slow in business as expected. I am surprised too that 5.01 factory image isn't yet available on the Nexus 5 when that phone is specifically mentioned in the 5.01 release notes as containing fixes. Oh well... it's the holidays.

Update... looks like the factory image for the Nexus 4 is out... c'mon Nexus 5.

Yeah, this is getting a bit annoying. A couple of resets seems to have helped with the battery drain bug, but it is still annoying dealing with it.

Got my 5.0.1 on my N7 2013 a day after it hit the air. Was one of those that went straight from 4.4.4 to 5.0.1.

Lollipop on Nexus 7 FHD is fantastic!!! Loving it so far
It's nice to have a tech device that gets better as it ages. Can't say the same about those iDevices.

The notification to upgrade to 5.0 disappeared on my phone last night. Regardless of when the OTA gets pushed to my phone, I'll probably wait another week to see what the internet says about 5.0.1 in case there are more game breaking issues.

It did take Kitkat a couple bug fixes to resolve the issues; that said, I luckily experienced none of them.

Also, I don't think the holidays are a good excuse to see these updates come slowly; and by that, I mean fixes for a Flagship SW Revision - this isn't quarterly maintenance or anything.
If the 'holidays' are the reason for slow progress, then need to push these releases either after the new year, or sometime in September. Its terrible PRD to push out Flagship SW with game breaking issues, and then ask people to be patient over the holidays when people want to use their phone.
That said, I don't think its the holidays; I think that these bugs actually took Google some more time to figure out.

The 5.0.1 update disappeared from my nexus 7 last night too. I'm still on kitkat. I wonder if they pulled it.

Anyone know about some of the more technical details of the multitasking changes? I know that Google made some changes allowing some activities to essentially maintain their active state when in the background. I have heard that this causes some problems with some older apps that were essentially relying on the activity lifecycle to control their processing requirements for them, i.e. they are constantly spinning doing things in the background, eating cpu/battery whereas before they would have been paused/stopped.

My Nexus 7 updated this week. It's painfully slow now (no, I haven't wiped it yet). The on screen icons are stupid. Otherwise it seems pretty much the same since all my apps previously updated to material design.
