Just got my OTA update. I went straight to 5.0.2 lollipop from 4.4.4 kitkat. Hope all the major bugs are worked out in this version.

Nothing for Nexus 4 (Developer page still shows 5.0.1) but I'll probably end up waiting a few weeks until I upgrade so I'm aware of what problems are broken. I'm assuming early March will be a good time to switch to Lollipop.

That said I'm ready to move on...for some reason, the last 6 months has led to my phone slowing down like crazy. I have tried monitoring my services but I have zero clue why its so sluggish to do anything. I'm hoping that Lollipop (perhaps a clean install?) will resolve any issues.

ha not even close. Doesn't me you will necessarily experience them or they would be as unpleasant and other people's experience.

I've posted my generally positive experience with Android 5 on a Nexus 4 several times in this thread but the more I use it the more slow and unstable it seems to become. As I mentioned earlier I was part of a group affected by a bug which seemed to disable all audio (mic and speaker) during voice calls. So when I called someone or they called me, I couldn't hear them, they couldn't hear me, it sounds like a dead line after having rung normally. That was probably the single biggest issue, resolved with frequent restarts. There is a general slowness to the device, lag on keyboard inputs, and on screen commands. This has become much more pronounced. I can get a couple words ahead by typing or swyping on the keyboard quickly. I also experience scenario's where the phone wont wake. It will be in a sleep state for instance if it has been sitting on my desk. I will attempt to wake it by pressing the power button and nothing happens. It will remain asleep regardless of keypress unless I hold the power button for a long time, which then forces a reboot.

So - hopeful that they can resolve these issues on older devices. Otherwise I'll have to look at upgrading because right now the user experience is terrible.

Reset it?

Anytime the version of an O/S changes I highly recommend a clean install. I've had zero issues on a Nexus 9 and Nexus 7 with Lollipop.

I received a notification on my Nexus 7 (2013) that the Android 5.0.2 update has been downloaded. I'm kind of afraid to install it -- can any Nexus 7 users give me some feedback?

I've only used it for an afternoon. Maybe it's in my head but it seems a little slower when surfing the web or it could be that I visited a popup heavy website yesterday. The screen contrast is also dimmer when you do mundane stuff, which might be a reason why it appears slower. The background will dim whenever you search using chrome or check notifications. It must be a battery saving feature to dim at any chance possible.

The only thing I've done with it so far is watch youtube and surf web on chrome.

Edit
Flipboard, instagram, reddit, downloads, gmail, and MightyText seems to work fine.

I like it on my Nexus 7. It is a little more laggy but the improvements are worth it. For what its worth the ROm build seems to be better than my GPe M8.

With the exception of the dead line, what you described is exactly how 4.4.4 operates for me.

I have the notification now too, on my 2013 N7. Am holding off until I feel reasonably sure upgrading won't be a painful experience. If there is a way back to KitKat, then I might roll the dice. Otherwise, why fix what ain't broke?

Upgrading is never a painful experience, everything goes over just fine.

There is a way back to KitKat. It's been mentioned in this thread a LOT.

My experience has been good with 5.0.2 on my 2013 N7. Major things not completely fixed, but patched up more.

This year will likely be 5.1, and it will be smoother. If it's not called 5.1, I still don't think it will be nearly as sweeping as Lollipop has been. This isn't so different from the ICS through KitKat transition. ICS was not all rainbows and sunshine either.

I personally would not want to go back to KitKat right now.

I finally upgraded. So far, so good.

Lost my patience of staring at the Upgrade logo since December that recently re-appeared. I wiped everything and installed a clean copy and everything looks good so far.
Google voice doesn't have massive delays, apps don't have a lag when switching back and forth, it doesn't take seconds for the keyboard to appear, and the phone auto rotates the screen almost instantly.

I think my OS must have been borked (either through multiple upgrades as i started with 4.2, or through some apps that I had) because this is finally fluid again like it used to be.

I'll be monitoring how the apps I install to see how the overall phone reacts to it.

Just put 5.02 on my HTC M8. What's this house icon on the status bar for? I can't seem to find any reference to it:

Maybe Hotspot or WiFi Direct? Does it disappear if you turn WiFi off?

Looking back at the remaining things that irritated me about Android 5.0, has anyone using newer revisions noticed anything that shows improvement on either of the following points?

1 - When holding down the power button, KitKat shows the following options:
power down / vibrate / mute / aeroplane mode / normal volume. 5.0 on my N5 cut those options down to one, 'power down'. The former was quick and handy.

2 - The order of timers one has previously set up was in order of the timer length. 5.0 changed this to the order they were added to the app in (which is little better than 'random'). I heavily use timers and the clock/alarm/timer/stopwatch app that KitKat comes with is perfect IMO.

There were other factors that also encouraged my move back to KitKat, but if it ever came down to a choice of "have this very useful Android 5x-only app or do without it and stay on KitKat", those would be the two that, if they were fixed, would go some way to encourage me to upgrade again.

Maybe a location-based WiFi that tells you that you are using your home network? If that is the case there has to be a setting that you can configure.
