Ok, who is getting it? I saw all the releases for the Nexuses hit.

I am curious how it works on a Nexus 7 2012, or a Nexus 10. I unrooted and relocked my Nexus 7 2013 this week so I can get the update straight from the source.

I'm gonna do the same for my Nexus 5. Really hoping I get some extra battery life out of this.

Well, anyone hoping that Lollipop would drop tomorrow will be sad.

Artem of Android Police just posted this on G+:

Hey guys, I just got word from one of our tipsters that the first OTAs got delayed due to some outstanding bugs, now currently scheduled for the 12th.

The new toggles take up 90% of the screen for 8 buttons? Even 5 buttons takes up 50% of the screen.

Shrug. Kinda pointless when the CM power toggles can do 6 buttons in the same height as a single notification. Maybe if Google used expandable toggles? That would've been nice. Start out as a row of 6. As you pull it down, you now get the text labels and they rearrange into fatter icons?

Those screens make me think two things:

1. I am going to look back and miss Holo

2. I moved away from AMOLED devices at just the right time

Yeah the default Lollipop theme is too bright for an AMOLED, bright enough to affect battery life at least a bit imo, plus I tend to like less bright themes. Definitely going to look at a launcher and dark theme when I get lollipop.

AOSP was updated. Not the same as as OTA's or factory images.

Looks like when you unlock dev options in Lollipop (by tapping the version number over and over) you also unlock a flappy bird type game. Nice easter egg from Google lol.

Am I the only one that thinks it's lame that they didn't license the real thing? Instead they had to make a knock off.

Bah! I left my Nexus 7 2012 at the office today. I guess I'll do it tomorrow or later in the week. I'm not too concerned about a decrease in performance. The Nexus 7 2012 is already slow enough that I no longer use it as my primary tablet. How much worse can it actually get?

I'm actually surprised the 2012 Nexus 7 is getting the update.

Also I agree with the above poster. This update doesn't look too friendly for amoled users. Battery life is worrisome enough on my Moto X. May just have to stay on Kitkat or pick up a new phone depending on the initial reports.

I've been using the lastest L preview, thanks to XDA, on my N4 for the last week and I haven't noticed any battery life improvements. I mainly use gmail, chrome, opera, news&weathers, messaging..

The new google apps are definitely something to get used to. The colors are much bolder. The Email app has been replaced by the GMail app. The calendar app redesign is nice. Overall, the material ui changes are nice.

Any speed improvement? I don't care about battery life improvements. I do care about decrease in lag though.

I guess they're doing the piecemeal update rollout as usual.

Last check on my Nexus 7 (2012) at 9 am Nov. 5 in Toronto - still says it's up to date with 4.4.4.

The OTA was delayed to 12. Nov.

Cause: so bug(s) that need(s) to be addressed first

They're extending API's that were provided in KitKat.

I don't understand how they're conceding defeat with the release of Lollipop.
Because access went from totally locked down and deprecated w/o root to exactly what it should have been in the first place. File and utility apps get full access, while camera apps can store in folders readable by all.

They're extending the API that already existed in KitKat. The SD Card storage API already existed, and devs didn't think it was enough.

How is this conceding defeat?

According to Engadget Lollipop will help with lag. I am still on the fence if that will benefit our old Nexus 7's or if they will get slower. I intent to turn off drive encryption if i can since i know that will slow down the tablet even more.

Defeat? I do not know about that.
They started "making" Android One devices with SD slot (even Motorola made same under their ownership), maybe Sundar finally called some friends back in India that explained him that the cloud doesn't solve everything for everyone.
Let's say they abandoned they philosophy for practical reasons.

It's one week later and Nov. 12 now, and so far as of 9:23 am, nothing still for my Nexus 7 (2012).

EDIT:

There is a factory image available from Google for the 2012 Nexus 7:

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014...llipop-for-the-2012-nexus-7-wi-fi-right-here/

However, to install it, it requires installing the SDK and unlocking the bootloader, and wiping the tablet in the process. Ain't nobody got time for that.

EDIT again:

Some Moto G people are getting it now OTA
