I read so many mixed opinions/results, some say it brings is back to life, some say it's worse then ever.

64bit was always going to be a transition. That is why I was so desperate to upgrade this year, I will let everyone else be 64bit Guinea pigs next year.

I would rather be a 64-bit guinea pig with Arm v8 architecture improvements for 32-bit mode than being a complete fool stuck with bleeding edge 32-bit only SoCs now.

Performance is absolutely horrible on my Nexus 7. The launcher lags like crazy, even with Nova Launcher installed. Transitions are choppy, and very laggy. It's worse than on KitKat.

Knock yourself out, enjoy those 64bit regressions. I bet they will pop up issues all over the spectrum next year, like possibly worse battery life than current devices and random performance issues. A great 32-bit mode doesn't help when the OS is 64bit and apps are going through the painful transition process to get to 64bit. Sounds like adventures in RAM hoarding.

Just like I let all y'all get that Gnex and deal with growing pains for HD displays and apps, I will let y'all deal with all the 64bit problems. At least for six months or a few point releases of Lollipop, whatever comes first.

For what its worth, I just did the factory image full reset. Its definitely brought it back to life. Everything is smooth and dandy.

OK, I have to say this 5.0 update is simply the best update I have EVER had for a mobile device. I can see changes ALL over the os- copy paste handles, the growing clock on the notification shade, the white background for apps. I love it.

More than that, this update seemed to fix my Nexus. I have borderline hated my Nexus 7 2013 for a year because of poor multi touch and random rebooting. The multi touch was just frustrating and made it so typing sucked. But the random rebooting was like a freaking overclocked 486, it drove me nuts to not have a stable machine. And it would do it at the worst fraking times too, like when I just banged out a big reply in Tapatalk or sat down to eat a warm dinner and read the news.

The multi touch isn't perfect now, but I downloaded an app to test and ghost touches seem gone. It might be just the keyboard has better correction. Whatever it is I will take it, I hated having to find my phone to bang out a reply of this length on the forum.

But I know for sure the big issue of reboots is fixed, because otherwise this mofo would reboot right before I hit submit on this post. Yay!

It's a personal taste and judgment, IMO, whether one prefers "Tick" or "Tock."

I haven't tried to much multi-touch on my N7 2013, but I still agree that this is a great update. Before, it was always a little jittery and I could always tell that it was under strain quite a bit to do stuff. I had been running the preview, and so did a factory image install, and it has been great. Noticeably better battery life (it didn't double it or anything, but it's definitely better), and much smoother performance. My animation don't jump or skip any more.

Overall, I'm very pleased with Lollipop. It'll be interesting to see what Google adds to 5.1. I imagine they'll be on Lollipop for a while.

I take my previous comment back. While it was initially smooth, after a days of setting up accounts, reinstalling apps and filling up storage, its become slower than kit kat was

anyone running it on a nexus 4? impression?

I am, any more specific questions?
It runs fine, the performance is good, battery seems about the same (mostly use it on wifi).

My gripes about the OS:
Quick Settings: done the Google way... QS done algorithmically is just wrong, you can't even develop "muscle memory" things move around and there are things there that I will never use.... They should just let the 3x3 matrix be customizable.

Ambient Display: I would like if they included it (off by default) also add a more granular selection of "display on at pick up" and "display on with new notification" (which could be nicely integrated with the new priority notification system).

Zero volume: that is most likely a bug (hopefully), how hard it is to make it go: Volume 2, 1, 0, vibrate?

Navigation buttons: why aren't they transparent in other apps as they are in the Google Now launcher? Is that up to developers to enable? Even Google does only do it in the launcher, creating inconsistencies. But also inside the launcher itself you have redraws of the gradient on the nav buttons when accessing the recents.

Still needs a bit of polish.

ok thanks, I think I'll wait. Currently running ART runtime, no animations, pretty lean, and fast. No complaints except for lack of LTE but I think this can be enabled in the dialer.

I'm really liking 5.0 so far.

I had to sideload the OTA to my Nexus 7 last night as I still had not received the update.

Digging the new keyboard too and I'm giving the Google Now launcher a go.

I don't plan on upgrading my Nexus 7 unless I can get Flash to work on it. Too many sites still use it and I have no desire to lose that functionality.

Still waiting... Arggh.

As for Flash, I haven't cared about it on mobile devices since 2012.

Finally received OTA update for my Nexus 5 (T-Mobile unlocked) today Monday 17NOV14 around 11:00 AM Pacific while at work.

Was going to wait until going home to download and install but I couldn't wait. So I said screw it and downloaded it via Cricket LTE, download size was 497.50MB which is a drop in the bucket against my 10GB quota.

It's going to take some getting used to.

I installed it today and overall, I like it. Not much time to explore yet as work was busy.

I like:
-The new drop down menu as well as the "second drop down menu" quick settings.
-The gmail

Push:
-I think performance is about the same right now. Haven't had time to explore too much. It seems "smoother" though.
-Battery seems about the same.
-Camera still sucks

I don't like:
-It looks like lockscreen widgets are gone. Maybe I just haven't figured it out yet.

Me either. So Flash won't work with Dolphin browser anymore ?

Nope, at least from what I can find out from XDA. I hear how Flash isn't important but if it were blocked on a PC people would be complaining since it's still very common.

Most sites have been moving away from flash. Truthfully, I uninstalled flash after it started crashing NON STOP and I realized that 99.99% of what I do doesn't require it at all anymore.

If I really need flash on my phone, I just remote desktop to my computer and access that content from there. It's that much more convenient than having to deal with it on a phone.

When Flash actually mattered on tablets and phones, the tablets and phones were mostly too slow to run it.

Now that tablets and phones are actually fast enough to run Flash, the need is no longer really there anymore. Well, occasionally it can be helpful, but the importance of it is much, much less than it was 2 years ago. I certainly don't miss it anymore.

Web designers have been moving away from Flash in droves. In fact, the migration away from Flash has happened faster than I predicted, probably because of the influence of iOS and then Android later.

Anyhoo, I'm still here on my "up-to-date" 4.4.4, as of 9:30 am 2014-11-18, almost a week after 5.0's release.
