So much agony over if I can afford to waste several more years of my free time on this.

Do you actually get the game on release day with newegg now? In the past I've ordered and It wasn't shipped until release.

Upgrade your 10 year old laptop

Actually, 2 of my laptops that don't pass are only 5 years old. I just expected that the video cards that would play WoW would have no issues with D3. I'm surprised that they don't allow you to play at lower settings, as opposed to just locking you out completely. At least all of the copies of DIII I got were free, so it's no big loss.

Why in god's name would you expect that? WoW was released a full year before even the 360 was out... and THAT'S your measure of how a brand new 2012 game should run? PC games require decent hardware, that's pretty much a given. Having the words "integrated" and "gaming" in the same statement sends chills down every gamers spine.

WoW updates their system requirements with each patch, and even mists runs fine on these computers. Diablo isn't even full 3d, and TBH I'm not that impressed with the graphics. Granted, it has a lot of moving parts (fog, wind, etc..) but I figured there could just be options to turn some of that off on lower end systems, rather than just locking you out of the main menu.

...what?! You expect to run a 2012 game on a laptop from 2007? Seriously? That is not at all a reasonable assumption.

{edit, this came out snarkier than I ancitipated. I know you were just trying to give people a heads up; my bad}

Don't forget to check your video card compatibility before you buy...I'm in the Beta, and it won't work on half of the integrated graphics laptops I've tried it on, although WoW works great on them. They have strict video requirements for DIII, and won't even let you get to the main menu if they aren't on the list.

It should be a physical copy, so unfortunately no midnight gaming if you go this route.

I couldn't find any mention specifically, but I was thinking "free shipping" means physical disc.

ok looks like consensus is a physical copy. Any case, I'm ordering, for $50 it's not bad for a bliz game.

Another question: does anyone know this game is like D2 having both on and offline or a online only game?

I don't think it is release day arrival/shipping. That doesn't bother me much, though. With work I won't be able to play much during the week, so having it on release day isn't super important to me.

Is this coupon/deal dead now?

I tried it earlier today and I got the same error message. "The promo code EMCNFJC22 has been closed and is no longer active." I decided to call them and they said that until it's an active order, they cannot take $10 off (but I saw it taken off before entering my credit card information). They said that they put it in their notes to take off $10 and I'll check myself when it moves from pre-order to an active order, but for those of you who don't want to wait, just pay the $10 and get the gaming on, the hassle of doing that AND waiting... fail for Newegg. Oh and yes, it's a physical copy.

$50 is a great price, I would jump on it if my ball and chain didn't already pre-order the CE for me. If they ship from the NJ warehouse I would get it the next day anyhow.

Diablo 3 is online only, even if you play single player.

Blizzard games are pretty notorious for holding their value for a long time.

Yea, I remember D2 holding price for a loooooooooooooooooooong time. Its a little diffrent these days though with over the wire downloads, so the discounts might come sooner, but don't count on it for atleast 2012.
