is everyone using a tripod? How hard is it to take pictures like this with a Canon S2 IS?

I used a tripod. Hopefully I will be able to get out tonight to take a few more of the marina and of the USS Lexington. It's lit up pretty neat at night.

Yes, from last week. We're there once a week. I'm surprised I was able to handle the 5D and Giottos tripod after a few yards at Senor Frogs. :laugh:

I mean, yes, it's obviously wide angle, but a fish-eye usually has a huge amount of barrel distortion (by design). It looks more like a regular wide angle.

Or does the crop kill the fish-eye effect as well?

Love the shots. Have to say that wide angle lenses are God's gift to photography. Do you have those shots in full res?

Yes I have the shots in full res. When I get home I can post them cause the hotel wifi connection is pretty slow. The lens is really a fisheye, but if the subject is in the center of the lens, or is far away, the distortion is less noticeable. The 2x crop kills it.
