Hey all seen all the "old-timers" pop in and thought I would stop in and say hi too


Not sure how many remember me, I stopped punching in numbers about 4-5 years ago. But I recently retired from the Navy and have been bored and reading AT forums while getting ready to upgrade the home computers.

Looking to get back into some crunching with the systems being replaced.

What is a good project for a E8400 and GTX 465?

Welcome back BofRa! I do remember you quite well ...
GTX465 does quite well in most GPU-crunching projects, but especially in CollatzConjecture, PrimeGrid, DNETC.NET, GPUGrid; does quite well in some other projects too. The GPU is good in Folding@Home too ... There are some threads around discussing this ...
The E8400 does well in most projects. It can not be used in Folding@Home SMP-crunching. Most BOINC-projects can use that processor ...

2nd to what Petrus said. There's also S@H, among other GPU apps, that make very good use of a GTX 465. As for the E8400, you couldn't go wrong with any BOINC project, I'd recommend Rosetta@Home (Not that I'm biased towards that project )

Well till I get around to reading forums at a few places and till I buy my new SB system, I went ahead and reinstalled BOINC with Primegrid, Rosetta and Einstein running

Am I supposed to be getting such a big difference in points between GPU and CPU for F@H?

I am getting roughly 11k ppd from my GTX465 and 500ppd from my Phenomx6 1100T

11k ppd from the GPU is reasonable.
500 ppd is probably without any bonuspoints. Have you got a passkey (?) and have you crunched 10 WUs using the SMP-client? If no, then the ppd will go up a lot ...
