10 days. Did over a week several times. Not good memories. I used to be a major insomniac, averaged 2-3 hours of sleep a night for most of my life. The old brain would kick into hyper mode and I just could not wind down enough to sleep.

I recall a seven day stretch of partying and working in my early 20s. Late nights with alcohol (including being at the gas station at 7am to get *more*, waiting for them to unlock those coolers), and a lot of no-doz and mini-thins (the old ones). Think there was a total of 4 hours of sleep during the span.

Systems got all messed up, eating was getting tough, couldn't sleep by the end (I mean, hard to do when you expect to see your heart burst out and run across the floor).

Finally crashed and slept for a long time. Can't remember now, but it was somewhere between 12-18 hours of sleep. I *do* remember waking and being utterly baffled by the sunset as I slowly worked out that I had slept a looooong time.

Ughhh youthhhhh

Edit: was up for ~41 hours in January with the birth of #3. Most of that was the normal day before though...

Geez man. Lack of sleep is generally associated with being crazy .

Yeah, the morning after the 10th night of no sleep, my boss hits me with " you know that people go crazy after two weeks without sleep and they usually have to shoot them". I replied" Well thanks, that's a load off my mind, that should make things a lot easier". I had been trying Nytol to see if it helped, but I think it made it worse. A friend of mine and I stopped by a Pharmacy on the way home that night after work, and went through all the sleep aids, trying to find something that used a different chemical. We found a box of Unisom capsules. I went home, kicked back in the recliner in my bedroom, and took one. I was thinking that as soon as I get sleepy I'll go to bed. That was the last thing I remember until about noon the next day, because those things hit me like a hammer. I have never lasted more than about 5 minutes after taking one of those things, and I really hate to use them because I'm so far out that if the place burned down I'd never know.

This one time I got up at like 8 am and didn't get to bed until like midnight. A whole 16 hours of no sleep.

96 hrs. First job was Subway; me & a friend/co-worker wanted extra shifts so we both just worked together for alternating shifts. I was no Sandwich Artist towards the end.

Its actually just an antihistamine that binds quickly. Benedryl will do the same it just takes 2-3 hours to properly kick in. Wonder if you have a problem with one of the histamine enzymes.

When I was young I could easily do an all nighter so probably 24+ hours.

Now, I can hardly do 24 hours. When I'm on night shifts, sometimes on my last one I'll just stay up so I can switch back to day shift mode faster by going to bed early that night, as opposed to going to bed and getting up at like 4pm, then being wide awake all night. Problem is when I don't sleep after a night shift, by around noon I always regret it and I'm tired to the point where I think I'll just pass out asleep. Though it depends, some days I can make it to like 4-5 before I feel that way. If I make it to 7, then that's 24 hours.

I used to semi regularly do 26-30 hours. When I was assigned to the overnight shift I'd work a normal day in the office, go home, and then come back and work 11PM to 8AM. After that I could usually fall asleep during the day although the second night between 4&6 AM was usually a bear to stay awake.
