What are your thoughts of the game so far? Also, spec's and settings?

I agree. Let's get an honest no BS opinion so we can wager a decision on this 'vs' Q4 if we're only gonna pick up one.....

It is a bit boring IMO, in terms of gameplay it's almost all the same (Just started "Finding Alice" or something with Alice in the title).
Still, it's quite fun, AI is great, not too buggy (though I have had some issues where the game freezes for like 30 seconds then resumes without issue).
There are a few niggles, rocket launcher doesn't take chunks out of the walls, though shotguns/AR etc do, and some spoken dialogue doesn't match up with its subtitle text.
I run 1280x960, most stuff on high, 4xAF, no AA w/AMD64 @ 2600MHz and a 7800GT.
Can be a little choppy sometimes But it's totally playable.


Some of the puzzles are very Half Life-esque (which is both good and bad), some bits are a little silly, and it can be easy to miss little bits that you need to do to get to the next area (eg: like the OP's problem, which I also had).
Also, I feel like I'm lost pretty much all the time, but I'm usually managing to go the right way, because it's fairly linear, it blocks off any way that's the wrong way, and usually there are a couple of ways to get from A to B, so while I feel lost, I'm not usually really lost unless I've missed some obscure switch or doorway.

Goddamnit, i started playing tonite.

I'm stuck at the same place

I actually am stuck on the other side of the lightning thing there you took in your screenie.
I went thru the tunnels all the way around only to still be stuck, just on the opposite side.

How do i keep goin'?


Oh, & my impression of the game are:
Good graphics, tho the physics & graphics were better, or at least just as good with HL2 IMO.

I really haven't found it all that creepy so far, which i like.
Doom 3 actually scared me alot, lol, but this hasn't.

One really annoying thing is is getting frozen, i mean your character.

It's happened to me a few times. Basically, i cannot move at all, & i have to restart from a saved point to get going again
Once too, i was opening a door, & it opened hinged from the middle of the door frame, so i couldn't get in on either side!

Aside from the bugs though, it's pretty damn good so far.

I got F.E.A.R. tonight and played a couple levels... so far I am not that impressed. I am digging Serious Sam 2 much more right now.

I'm not digging the seriously long cut scenes and the dark parts where I have to use a flashlight(Doom3 anyone?). Plus the bots are as tarded as the demo. Any game reviewer who gave this marginal game higher marks than SS2 or Q4 probably needs to look for another career, lol.

Plus the character holds out the weapon at stupid looking angles.

What can I say, id and Epic have me spoiled.

Not saying it isn't fun but it made me a bit dizzy and I hate that in a FPS... SS2 and CoD2 demo don't have that effect on me so whatever, that is my mini review. :beer:

On the opposite side of the lightning there is a voltage box on the wall.. pull the lever to stop the lightning, then go thru the door that the bolt was aimed at.

And those are some weird bugs you are seeing.. so far i have seen minimal bugs, rarely at all. Sometimes the pathing of the enemies isnt too smart or they end up running into eachother and they get stuck in a pillar or something but its not too bad.

Yeah, i figured that out

I felt rather dumb of course...

I am taking it slow, but quite enjoying it, aside from when i get lost & have to backtrack to figure out where i am :laugh:
