Looking for $1000 laptop with dedicated video

I am looking for a 14" notebook weighing in at around 5lbs with dedicated video. I would prefer for the video card to be nvidia. Hard drive space at around 80gb or so is good and more would be even better. Do not need a dvd burner. I was looking around at some manufacturer's websites and found an HP DV2000T with an nvidia 7200Go 128mb and 1.86ghz core 2 duo with 120gb hdd for $964. It only has 512mb ram but I will be getting a 2gb ram kit from newegg which is not to be considered in the $1000 price. Has anyone had any experiences with the dv2000t? Or if anyone has any recommendations for any other laptop, please let me know. Thank you for any feedback you guys can give me.

I too am considering the dv2000t...it has all the power of the larger ones but its 1" thin. And honestly I like the latest hp consumer and business notebooks are outstanding...sony seem more expensive and ibm a little bland ...

i have a dv2000t...it's awesome. it does everything i need it to and it's pretty good when it comes to looks. the build quality is good and the laptop is sturdy (my friend punched my laptop, making the screen shift towards me about an inch and HE got hurt lol). the keyboard is good, too.

if battery life is of concern to you, with the intel GMA950 it gets roughly 2 hours with the 6-cell battery. the 12-cell gets ~double. the 12-cell is bigger but it sticks out the bottom, not out the back, so it really doesn't detract from the appearance and actually improves cooling.

the dell latitude d620, thinkpad t60 and macbook are also good laptops but none fall within your budget. in the sub-$1000 category, i think the dv2000t wins.

That hp laptop is huge at 17 inches, was looking for something more portable to lug around. I would consider a 15 incher if it was less than 5lbs or so. I like my wife's 15" macbook pro in terms of size and weight. She carries that thing everywhere but I am not about to pay $2000 for a laptop. I already have a Macbook which i bought last year for $1000 with my student discount but now i need something for work as most of the applications I use are all windows based. This thing pretty much has to be a portable workhorse that is going to be carried everywhere.

I know that I can always run Windows on my macbook but the battery life suffers quite a bit and the trackpad starts to act funny after a while, theres still some driver issues that have to be worked out.

Plus also the price on that dv2000t also includes a 12cell laptop so i guess ill be ordering that one. Do you guys know if HP will sell that model with Vista Business instead of Home Premium? They dont seem to offer that configuration option on their website but I guess I will have to give them a call.

HP has a $200 off $1000+ configuration so you should order quickly. actually, i'm not positive it's still going on but a day or two they had it. i don't think they'll install vista business, but it's worth a shot. the pavilion line is primarily an entertainment laptop...i mean it does write "HP Pavilion Entertainment PC" on the thing

anyway, i've been busy lately and need to run right now but you can check dell's small business site and see how the pricing on the dell D620 is. it's built tough and is an extremely attractive laptop as far as business laptops go.
