Hi everyone,

I am finally upgrading my current build (Xeon X5675 sitting in a Cooler Master ACTS 840).

I am not too happy with the case: it's huge and noise isolation is very poor, although I am only using Noctua fans (or I am doing something wrong)

I am finally upgrading to a Ryzen 3900X (or maybe 3950X) with a Corsair H115i RGB Platinum AIO cooler and RTX 2080 GPU, and I'll be using a normal ATX motherboard (probably a ~300$ Asus or Gigabyte or AsRock).

I don't plan to put many (if any) HDDs as I'll move those to a NAS, and no optical drive.

I have experience with the Dark Base 700 and quite like the look of it, but the user manual is awful and I am not sure I like the fan controller board. I also read many complaints about poor airflow.

I'd like a good case, not huge (mid-tower is ok), with good airflow and good isolation, preferably front USB-C, and a window side-panel.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendation with any of these?

I am looking at the Phanteks P600S, I like it but it appears like the Evolve X is actually even better (except for the front mesh)
Thought the Evolve series had airflow problems; in which case you could run with higher GPU and CPU temps.

does it?
I thought it was well-liked by many reviewers.

the P600S is obviously better since you can easily remove the front cover to reveal the mesh.
but this can be done on the Evolve (it's just ugly)

it seems higher-end compared to the P600S and I am anyway adding extra fans to the case I'll end up buying.

It was per my research, however I thought that case was styled too aggressively for my taste so I didn’t look into it much.
The Etherloos cooled very well, they got ruled out by me because I thought they looked sort of ugly and my cat would claw the crap out of the front filter.
Heads up on the 600s, it’s a decent cooling case but not superior cooling case. Leaving the door off doesn’t affect cooling that much. To me the 600s was the balance I was looking for between cool, quiet and looks. You may decide differently.

the Evolv X is not the prettiest case, I agree, but it seems to tick many boxes for me.

I've been doing research for a new build for few weeks now, and the case is by far the most difficult to pick (followed by the motherboard)

for the rest (RAM, CPU, PSU, GPU), it was way easier to decide what I wanted.

oh well, I'll keep reading reviews and watching youtube videos until I can decide xD

I don't think I'll get the be quiet! Dark Base 700.
It'll for sure be quiet but the tiny vent on top is a design flaw and using a 280mm AIO doesn't seem optimal in any position.

that leaves me with:
  • Phanteks Evolv X or P600S
  • Fractal Vector RS
  • Fractal Meshify S2
  • Fractal Define S2 or R6

I was there I totally understand, case is the only thing you look at every day so it’s important
Bequiet 800 is pretty good too you just need to accept it is more of a quiet case than a cool case.
I really liked the fractal r6 just had a fear of the cat clawing the top vent/screen and another fear of breaking the door like I did on my antec P180
