Looking for a new hobby suggestion help

Hi all,
I am looking for a new hobby to pick up, something that is outdoors and fun. This may sound childish or whatnot, but for the past few months on breaks/summer off college, my friends and I have been going to a local place to race Go Karts on a slick track -- it is a ton of fun, but pretty expensive to keep up ($7 for about 7 minutes of racing).

I'd love to find a local, more 'professional' track to join, but I can't seem to find any. I am interested in taking up some kind of hobby such as the above, maybe some dirt track fun on bikes or 4 wheelers, etc.

What do you all recommend to try? I'm sure all these types of things are expensive, but what would you think is the best for the buck? Any of you do something like this?

Instead of motor sports, you should look into rock climbing. You don't need any equipment at all. Just don't fall, and you'll be fine.

Falling is fine. In fact, it's the most fun part.

edit: Assuming you're roped in. You have to be a bit of a psycho to go rock climbing without a harness/belay/rope.

Dirt bikes are very fun. Expensive upfront, but once you have all the gear & bike its not too bad. Only thing is you need other people to go trail riding with and it can be hard to find riding buddies and coordinate trips. Check out http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/

Try autocross. Probably a group close to you. You can have fun no matter what kind of car you have.

Actually, I forgot that my dad has a .357 Colt King Cobra that he has never used to my knowledge, and I've been thinking of taking a class and going to shooting range. That way, I don't have to pay for anything initially (like a dirt bike for example) and just have to pay for ammo and fees at gun range.

FWIW, I've never shot a gun before. But I don't know if this is much of a hobby as compared to the other things.
