Looking for a new mobile, and i don't want a clamshell, 11ty billion cameras, bluetooth, radio, xGb storage space, mp3..

An 'simple' mobile if you like, that does the basics very well, but doesn't come with all the clutter that i don't need..and all i can find that only do that are the cheap and nasty bottom of the line mobiles...

I guess i'm missing the point, 99% of people want the 'toys', but i would have thought that there'd be a market for a top of the line 'build and finish' but simple 'features' phone out there, especially amoung people who've out grown the 'ooh shiny!' reflex...

I guess i need it pointed out why i'm smoking the bad stuff, and why i need 12 cameras that take crappy pictures, a lousy fm radio, an indifferent mp3 player, and god knows what else in my mobile phone

I'd like the same thing - though clamshells don't bother me. I just want a small phone that makes calls and does text messages once in a while. Razrs are too wide and tall and played out and sucky.

I don't see the point. Are you too stupid to use the toys? A phone without them isn't really going to be cheaper unless you buy the cheapest there is.

I'll explain it for the benefit of anyone else out there with serious comprehension issues:

I don't NEED all those gimmicky toys
I WANT a phone that combines excellent build quailty with the 'basic' functions
I am HAPPY to pay a decent amount for a well made mobile that looks great while providing me with the 'basics' (if that's what you'd describe calling and texting, which is all most people i know use their mobiles for...)
The only phones out there that AREN'T sprinkled with shoddy cameras/radios/mp3players/vast mini HDDs are cheap, crappy, and badly made...as far as i can tell...

Have wii cleared those glaring misunderstanding on your part up? I hope so :beer:

You know... I was thinking the same thing... all i ever use my phone is for calling anyway. I rarely use the camera, maybe once a year if I want to get a quick snapshot of something.

But seriously, if I wanted an mp3 player or camera, I'd bring a dedicated device which will work 10x better. But it doesn't bother me too much, I just don't use the features.

Im with the OP. I friggin hate all these retarded features and annoying sounds/ringtones on new phones. When i got my last phone i spent literally 20 minutes having to go through a dozen menus turning off all the different sounds. I swear to god, there were alarms and beeps for everything. If my dog farted it would probably chirp.

I read about them on Gizmodo - they are aimed at "developing markets" aka India or 3rd world countries, where featureset means nothing but build quality, reception, reliability and battery life are paramount.

The solution seems glaringly obvious. Buy a phone that has excellent build quality, and don't use the features you don't want... I mean, if your choices are phones with good quality and extras you don't want or a featureless phone of crap quality, wouldn't you have to be stupid to pick the latter?

That's BS. A phone without those features is cheaper and smaller. Look at the Motorola F3... WHICH IS ONLY SOLD IN INDIA. By buying into that stupid more is better crap, you are paying for things that have little value, and forcing everyone else to by sending the message that an appealing phone has feature laden, rather than small and good looking.

For any given price, a phone with more features will be lower quality and be bigger than one with less. Do you really think you are only paying $50 for that Razr? The cost is redistributed to your bills.
