I haven't been into medieval fantasy in the past and I didn't read the Game of Thrones books so I didn't know anything about it until I saw someone talking about the first couple episodes on ATOT last year. Watched the first season and liked it so much I've been looking forward to the second season.
I'm absolutely not a fan of the genre but Game of Thrones is so effing well done, I don't see how anyone could fail to become engrossed.
There was also a sitcom last year (and probably coming back), that was about two English writers hired to come to Hollywood and write for a dreadful sitcom starring a faded "star" (Joey from Friends), that you might like. It sends up all the bloated H'wood egos -- producers, directors, agents, TV actors. It wasn't that bad. I forget its name. Ahh, ok,
Episodes.
Finally, I dunno, you might also like the quirky comedy of
Bored To Death.
