Looking for a new video card - need help

Hi all - I'm looking to upgrade my video card in order to get some more life out of my current system (in the signature). I'm looking at a Geforce GTX 465 as a replacement for my current 9800 GTX. My main question is - would I be significantly CPU bottlenecked/limited if I got this card? Also, if you have a better suggestion, I'm all ears Thanks!

I'd suggest waiting a little bit to see what the GTX 460 does.

Whether or not you'll be bottlenecked by your CPU depends on what games you play and what resolution you use, as well as if you are overclocked.

yes your E6600 would significantly hold back a card like the gtx465. a gtx465 is a poor choice considering the similarly performing, cooler running, cheaper 160 watt gtx460 will be launching next week

I used to run almost the exact same system as yours...it's now in my brother's hands...

It has an HD4830, about equivalent to your 9800gtx, and I'm thinking it might be good for one more card upgrade before the end of its useful life. Mind you, I overclocked it to 3Ghz, which you should try doing if you haven't already. I probably would not put anything more than a 5830-class card in it, due to CPU-bottlenecking in newer games. The 460 will probably be close to the 5830 and might be cheaper as well, so wait to see what it looks like before jumping.

get the PNY version and you will be able to unlock it to a 470
