I am 99% sure there are no socket 939 laptops. The only AMD chips available in mobile form right now are Socket 754. Yes, I realize the A64 4000+ w/1MB L2 Cache is a S939 desktop chip. Regardless, I find it entirely possible for AMD to sell a DTR A64 S754 chip w/a Clawhammer core (1MB L2 Cache) to OEM's. Look at the fact that Sempron CPU's are available with that system: Sempron is S754 only.
So therefore no, you won't be able to upgrade to an X2. Those require a S939 mobo as you know.
I honestly doubt we will see Socket 939 in the mobile platform as it is already moving to the value line in desktop form.

Tell that to the socket 939 chip sitting in my ZV6000
Edit - The Xpress 200M is a notch below the X300. Yes it sucks for newer games but you can wait for the X700 to come out in quantity.

Well, I just noticed this monster. It will supposedly be made available with a Quadro FX 1400, which isn't really optimized for games, but would definitely be better than a Radeon XPress 200m (I think the FX 1400 is the OpenGL optimized version of a 6800). Judging by the offered components, I'd expect this beast to cost > $3000. Thus, not really practical. Why do you desire s939 on a notebook exactly?

Will a cpu-z screenshot be acceptable? If yes, I will post as soon as I can repair my OS. I screwed up something while trying to install MatLab.
The theory behind the Skt 754 Semprons is that the motherboard chipset supports both sockets and the only difference is the socket on the motherboard itself. Somehow, HP has made it possible without too much hassle.
To the OP - If you want to avoid that possibilty, wait for the X2 laptops to come out. Right now it is a huge gamble that the BIOS will be updated to support the X2 in the ZV6000. Although they use desktop chips, there is no guarantee of compatibility with the X2.

I would not expect an X2 in a laptop in its current form. I would imagine AMD will come out with a mobile dual core solution before the X2's hit laptops themselves. Perhaps I can shed some light on this further in the summer

I didn't even know you could get a notebook with 939! That's news to me, as I thought all A64 lappies were all 754. I'd like some proof to this, as this is a new one to me!

I thought these were only available in socket 939, no? Both are available in HP lappys.
