Hey all! A little over a year ago I built this PC for my gf. The primary use is emails, streamings and a bit of Lightroom and Photoshop:

- ASRock A75M FM1 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX with UEFI BIOS
- AMD A6-3650 Llano 2.6GHz Socket FM1 100W Quad-Core w/ integrated HD6530D
- G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
- Antec Earthwatts Green 380W
- Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"
- ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner

Now, I installed some games on her PC, mostly WoW, D3 and HS. Nothing too demanding and while it does the job (at the lowest settings possible) I feel it needs some more juice. I sometimes play games on her PC and would like a bit more kicks.

She still use her old Dell 19" 1280x1024 LCD screen...

What would you recommend? I've checked a bit and found HD 6450 (70CAD), GT610-620-630 (from 60CAD to 100CAD) or R7 240 (89CAD).

Would you buy the cheapest or get something a bit more powerful "just in case"?

I could have a GT 630 for 70CAD
Don't want to pay more than that and if I could get one for 50CAD it'd be even better.

The cards that you have listed really are not meant for gaming and are basically no better than the igp you currently have. The lowest I would start with for gaming would be 7750/650/550ti level. Within your budget you might want to look at used and remember the limitations of that psu. Even something like a 5770/6770 would be functional and would function with that psu.

Out of all the GPUs you listed in the OP, I would go with the radeon 240. It's actually a decent but very low end entry level gaming card. If you can, try to get the one with GDDR5 RAM and not the one with DDR3 RAM.

But damn those Canadian prices are seriously over-inflated! No wonder I sold my 6870x2 for ~300 CAD (after shipping and customs fees) a few weeks ago....

I would definitely try to look for something used. Heck, even a GTX 460 would be a huge upgrade and it shouldn't be more than $50.

Free and a decent card still. Would be a good pick up. Just watch your psu with it, probably bordering close to the edge, should be fine, just something to keep an eye on.

Your PS work relys on your GPU, You said you do PS and Lightroom. In that case go for a 760 . Pay 200 dollars and trust me it will be worth it and you dont have to upgrade for another 10 years.

3000 dollars card should handle UT4 ,,,, the new BF and new COD and NFS ,, etc.. gl

4850 will be absolutely fine for 1280x1024. Equivalent to running 1080p with a 6850. The games you listed will run quite well, and even demanding titles should be perfectly playable on low/medium.

Yeah the PSU should be fine. The card requires one 6-pin connector and the PSU provides one.
