Max height would be 26", max width 24.5", depth we've got plenty of space. I like Middle Atlantic racks but will entertain others. If it has built in cooling that'd be great. Thanks

sometimes solutions like a SAN will come in a shipping crate that is basically a rack. If you know anyone that has done major upgrades they might have one kicking around that might be suitable.

OP - Sometimes you can find quality used racks on craigslist for cheap (yes, we're talking about the same kind of racks....but you can find those other ones on craigslist too). It's worth a look if you're trying to save some money.

Other than that, I don't really have suggestions...just make sure you get something with 4 posts if it's required by whatever you're mounting in it.

yeah I need it to look really nice as I'd be staring it all the time when home and we don't want to make the office look tacky. Price isn't a factor. As I'll have some business people come over from time to time.

So you need a full depth 4 post for standard servers, only shorter? I'd find a used large rack, cut it down to fit and then make some custom doors for it.

I've used these for mobile classroom network/server installations before. If you're putting in full length servers, you can put them at the bottom about half way in. That's what we did at one of my old jobs.

yeah you realize most modern servers (dl360,dl380) need to be supported at all ends or their own weight could flex/twist the chassis. tower not a problem but be careful they are making the chassis thinner and thinner these days and twisted a mainboard isn't terribly good if it is not mounted proper

Another thing the OP could look at are wall mount rack cabinets. That might look more appealing than a traditional 4 post rack mount setup of the same size.

those apc units are perfect except my max height is 26", man those look nice and would match my decor perfectly.

Check a music instrument store. I got a short-stack rolling cabinet (supports four-point mounting) made for MIDI and band equipment.

I bought mine at Guitar Center, I'm pretty sure Sam Ash also has something similar, or the variety of Internet shopping might turn something up.
