Mine charges in less than 2 hours and lasts 2 days on a full charge. Do you wear your watches to sleep? If so, that seems kind of odd. If not, you put it on the wireless charger before bed instead of in your watch display case or whatever and it's charged when you get up. Characterizing that as a pain in the ass seems silly.
They are also infinitely more useful than anything other than a high end diving watch, maybe, if you dive a lot or something.

My workout is farm chores. bang that sucker against the loader bucket on the front of the tractor and we will see... I cant think of a single thing I need to know about instantly that comes up on my phone, maybe if the chickens could tell them they want extra snacks. phone calls? I take calls when I'm at my desk, otherwise people can go fuck themselves. leave a message, ill call you back when I am at my desk. you cant even take a dip without being connected to the world around you? damn. if i was worried about my watch buzzing i may run over a chicken, or the livestock guardian dog, or a squash or something.
I build my life so that its easily managed with a full time job and a farm. if you have built your life so that you need to be reachable and notifiable at a moments notice, that is your problem, and it does sound like a problem to me.
if I did not wear a watch, I would never eat lunch, for example. or I would not have any idea how long I had been fishing. or I may miss a meeting, but that buzzes the phone in my pocket and I know what it's for, and I don't need my watch to tell me. my citizen ecodrive has survived many years working on offshore oil rigs and rigs in the Simpson desert of Australia. I would say that's a good test of durability. The crystal is all scratched to hell and the band has been changed a few times. love a simple nato strap.

The Movado Series 800 with the leather band is a nice clean sporty chronograph with the nice stitching and holes on the band. I think they stopped making them so they got pricey. I got mine for like $800 on Jomashop years ago. The band is pretty but not the best longevity wise. I ended up buying a very simliar looking silicone band, with exposed gray stitching and the holes in it and sport it with that now.
but you can find one lightly used on eBay for like $600

The crew we like out of Venice FL has a 40 ft Dorado. Very nice boat. They call themselves the tarpon tamers. Otherwise we don't go to the same places and pick one with good reviews. What boats do you go out on? My friends and I go out on a few of the long range boats out of San Diego. I've been on the Royal Polaris a few times, the Red Rooster III, the Shogun and a couple other boats. My friend's dad has a 26' fishing boat that we will be on next weekend and I am booked on a 4 day fishing trip next summer on the Shogun. Fishing has been epic here the last 4-5 years.
By the way, I ended up ordering a Casio Edifice watch.

$500 = any radio control, solar watch (Citizen, Casio Oceanus, etc)
$999 = anything that works for looks only
anything above this and you are disqualified from asking for reasonable advice for watches.
Most humans don't have a use for smartwatches. If you do, then again you pick a smartwatch, not a watch.
