Looking for Build Help

I realized there many of these threads, but I searched 15 pages and didn't see one that really addresses what I need to do.

My Athlon XP system just died (the Soyo Dragon Plus lived a good life) and I?m going to put another AMD system together.
I haven?t been ?in the game? for 4 years, so I furiously trying to research 100 things.
I need to stay under $1000 for this build, and obviously will cut some corners if there is overkill.
I started throwing some general ideas down.
Any advice or direction is highly appreciated.

CASE ? Antec Solo?
PS ? Seasonic S12-380 or ENERMAX Noisetaker II EG495P-VE ATX12V 485W?
FAN ? Retail?
MB ? Asus M2N32 or Biostar TForce550? Is the Asus worth the money?
PROC ? AM2 3800+ X2
RAM ? 2 gig Crucial DDR800 XMS2
SATA HD ? Seagate Barracuda 320GB or WD Caviar SE16 320GB

--I'd go Core 2 Duo if you can afford it. Otherwise AM2 dual core is fine.
--I'd avoid the overpriced Lian Lis. There's probably something just as good as Antec out there, but for cheaper. Maybe a Thermaltake X1?
--I'd go for a FSP Group (Fortron Source) PSU, not Seasonic or Enermax.
--I'd stick with a retail fan, for now. If you don't like it, you may get another at a later time.
--If you're going AMD, I'd go for the Biostar TForce 550, not the 590.
--Also if you're going AMD, they have a nice Opteron for fairly cheap at the moment.
--2GB of whichever reliable brand is cheapest (probably Corsair or mushkin).
--Western Digital SATA/300. Seagate offers a *slight* performance gain, but costs too much to justify it.
--If you're not a gamer, a GeForce 6200. If you are, I have no idea what to recommend.

Both the work and gaming PCs I built this year are AMD, but for an all new build a Core 2 is a better choice than AM2 except for a low budget single-core system.

Look at the benchmarks on an E6400 or 6600 comapred to the X2s. (CPU tab at the top of this page).

see if you can find a 7600GS or GT for a decent price. It's an entry level card, but loads better than a 6200. Good for light gaming.

hurtstotalktoyou: Why not the Seasonic? They get excellent reviews, and are supposed to be very quiet. I'm planning to get the S12-380 when I build my computer soon.
