According to my lawyer, this ad is legal in the United States as long as the situation involves shared living. The protected classes do not apply when someone will be living in your home.

I have an ad up on craigslist that is significantly less restrictive, yet those naive people keep flagging my post because I state a familial preference, despite it being completely legal.

Also, I keep getting copious amounts of spam cleverly disguised as (almost) believable inquiries. When did craigslist go to crap?

The folks at craigslist know the gist of the law. The bulk of their business is real estate, thus should understand that any flags should not stick. If they are sticking, you should get a refund.

Don't go as far as mentioning how you are allowed to discriminate in the ad, its just pandering to the idiots and detracting from the ad. i.e. Don't feed the trolls.

I suppose craigslist is the new monster.com of everything, i.e. tons of crap comes from it, nothing very useful but you might just get that one good hit.

it does extend to the message board. but CL flagging is completely at the discretion of the other users and the individual decisions of the 1 or 2 monkeys that administer the board.

I have no idea why anyone would ever agree to this - client or attorney. It makes no sense whatsoever.
