I am looking for games that will run at 60 fps at 1024x768 on my system.
The types of games I enjoy are mostly RPG and FPS.
I do not plan on upgrading my video card for about 6 months.

My system specs are the following.
AMD X3 450 3.2 Ghz
6 gigs of 1066Mhz Ram
880G HD4250
128GB Kingston SNV 425 SSD
Antec ISK 300-150

Just all modern games - especially ones that use more then 1 core should run well. Looks like your limiting factor is going to be your video card.

Upgrade the power supply, get that 4250 upgraded and you should be able to run just about anything.

Just about all Valve games, old and new should run well at lower resolutions.

left 4 dead
left 4 dead 2
counter-strike & counter-strike:source
Fortress Forever - free team fortress modification
Half-Life 1 & 2
team fortress classic
Borderlands will probably run at lower resolutions
Quake I, II and III, maybe even Quake 4.

so how about Devil May Cry 3?

Steam store link to Devil may cry 3 - http://store.steampowered.com/app/6550/

System requirements:
Minimum: Windows XP/2000*, Intel Pentium III Processor, 1.0 Ghz and above, 256 MB RAM, DirectX 9.0n and above video card, 128MB VRAM, Shader 2.0, DirectX 9.0 Soundcard, Mouse/keyboard, 2.0 GB free disk space

Recommended: Intel Premium 4 Processor 2.0 Ghz or better, 512 MB RAM, VRAM 256 MB and above, game pad with 4 wheel-12 button analogue stick, 4.7 GB Free disk space

Operation not assured if VRAM is shared with Main Memory. Video card of NVIDIA GeForce 7500 and above is recommended. Please end other applications when playing with this product. Defects may occur if other applications are running.

* Not designed to run on Windows Vista

Looks like you have more then enough cpu and memory, dont know about the video card though.

I do not know how the HD4250 does when compared to the GeForce 7500

I am mostly waiting for a new video card to see what a low end 6xxx or 7xxx series will bring.

Is there any reason why you're sticking with low-end cards? Something like an HD 5670 would be worlds better performance wise, and should still keep a low power profile.

I just purchased all of the components last week sans the SSD and 2 gigs of ram. I upgraded from a Dell E521 system with a 3800+ and 2 gigs of ram. This new system is a speed demon compared to my old one.

I am sticking with low end cards because I want to keep power consumption very low. I am using the PSU that comes with the case. I will also have a budget of $40 when I do eventually upgrade the video card.

The low end cards aren't really designed to be able to play 3d games. They are mostly there for other functions like video playback. If you want a card that can play games, you will need to get a card that has at least a "5" in the second digit (like the HD 5570, or the GTX450)

If you stay with the "5" series, you should also stay with low power cards as well, although they will not have a lot of horsepower they will run 1280x1024 resolutions well.
