looking for good java book

Can someone suggest a good java book for learning java. Right now in my java class we are using Introduction to Java Programming 3rd edition by Y. Daniel Liang, and the book is really horrible. It doesn't help matters any that the professor speaks broken english. I need a book that focuses on the basics, general java syntax, gui programming, graphics, and maybe threads.

It's about $9.00... It's pretty good... As basic as you could mostly find (besides 'Java for Idiots')
Not sure how detailed youre looking to get... But the $9.00 price alone is worth the look...

The Core Java books from SUN are good.

They come in two volumes.

Volume 1 Fundamentals, should be good to learn on.
