Looking for Good Karate/Kung Fu Movie

It's been a while since I've seen an excellent fighting flick. I'm looking for something with a deep/engaging storyline and lots of fighting.
Everytime I head to west 42nd street, I see a boatload of these films but I'm not sure which one is worth the buck.

I don't want any comedies.
No Jackie Chan. See above
No Bruce Lee. I've already seen most of his flicks
No Caucasian fighters. I want something original and from the far east.
Nothing from the past 13 years. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the classics were from the 1970s and 1980s.

The original Iron Monkey is bad azz. Not the dubbed one that came out recently. I have the original on DVD. Of all the DVD's I've bought, then sold after watching once, that one will NEVER leave my possesion.

Heh, my uncle in Hawaii is a Kung Fu movie nut. Between the VHS tapes and the DVD's, he's probably got close to 300 of them. Cool thing is, he orders them all the time, and usually gets 1 or 2 he already has with every order.....which is where I come in

Jet Li's old stuff is good. The "Once Upon a Time In China" series is really good.

There's also this awesome movie called "Dragon Inn". Funny as hell and has some good fighting.

Agreed... awesome movie. Ang Lee did a fantastic job with this one.

Get Akira Kurosawa's The Seven Samarai. Absolute classic. So many films have ripped off this one. It was made in 1954.

Man, Benny "The Jet" Urquidez was the bomb in REAL life fightning and in "Meals on Wheels" - "Dragons Forever", don't know why you gotta bum on the skin of the fighter

The Shaw Brothers / Run Run Shaw library is finally coming out on DVD, awesome stuff I used to go see as a kid in the SF and LA chinatowns in the early 70's. Chinese sword & sorcery / wuxia before the kung fu era.

Jet Li's "Fist of Legend" is a good modern movie, kung fu vs. karate (set during the Japanese occupation).

Also the Tarantino "Iron Monkey" re-release is not (just) dubbed, it also has redone subtitles. Dubbed = blech.

Another vote for Once upon a time in China series, especially the 2nd one, jet li vs donnie yen .
Fist of legend is awesome as well, and would be much closer to real fight scene (without too much special effect).

IMO, the "Once Upon a Time in China" series wasn't all that great.

I liked "Fist of Legend" and "Twin Warriors" both with Jet Li.

Jet Li's "Fists of Legends" is an awesome movie. The choreography is really good.

You should also check out "Master of the Flying Guillatine". It's a classic.
