Hi,
I'm looking to relocate to Los Angeles area. Recent College grad from December 2007 with a B.S. in Finance, and Logistics/Transportation & Supply Chain Management from University of Maryland: College Park with 3.4 gpa . Looking for leads any type of job related to my field of study. I've been working for the Deparment of the Navy/Defense, as a contract specialist since ive graduated. It's good pay and great benefit (being a federal employee) but my girlfriend is out in Los Angeles as an Illustrator and I would love to move out there with her ASAP. Any help would be appreciated. I've tried job search sites, yahoo jobs or monster jobs, but it caters towards those with at least 2-4 years experience, and i'm looking for a company to start a career with. Any recent college grads from SoCal area with good info, maybe from your school career websites or anything would be really helpful. Thanks so much. I really could use some help!!!

Have you looked at federal jobs out here...lots of openings, last I checked, for contracts specialists (depends on quals and series) at all the various acquisition-related commands out in San Diego. If you're looking for L.A. area stuff...nothing comes to mind immediately.

I'm not crazy about staying as a contract specialist, i'm talking about ANYTHING. like financial analyst, logistics specialist, supply chain manager, maybe the shipping/transportation industry with all the ports in LA/SD, im just not crazy about contract/procurment.

Northrop has a corporate building in Century City. However the people I know there all started there after having 2-4 years experience. Its a bit tough for fresh grads out here right now.

Seems like the port companies like around San Padre channel would be a good start.

Put your girlfriend's address on your resume. Companies prefer to hire a local candidate.
