Looking for liquid cooling parts advice

Hey guys,

Sadly I haven't been able to get my liquid cooling setup put together in several years. I work a lot more than I used to, and I now have an Apogee GTX, Swiftech 3x120mm radiator, Swiftech MicroRes B, and D5 non-vario sitting around, unused, doing nothing. I couldn't get them to fit into my P182 easily and elegantly (I hate radiators hanging off the back), so I just gave up for a while.

Now I'm using a Silverstone FT02, which isn't the best case for liquid cooling by any means, but I think I can make it work. There's enough space for a 2x120mm radiator in the bottom (I might need to make custom brackets), and enough space for a 3x120mm if I had a shorter graphics card. There's plenty of room in the 5.25" bays, so I'm thinking about putting the reservoir and pump up there.

With that said, my questions are the following:
- I recently upgraded to an LGA 1156 system. Are there any adapters for the Apogee GTX or will I have to buy a newer waterblock?
- Which 5.25" bay reservoir should I use? I'd prefer something that allows me to keep the existing faceplate installed, if possible.
- What's the best way to attach my pump to the top of the reservoir, assuming it'll sit on top of it?
- I don't want to drill into this case (not yet, anyway), so any advice as far as a fillport and T-line? If the reservoir is easy enough to get to, I can just fill it from there.

Unfortunately I don't have the cash to spend much on the setup, so if I end up having to buy a new waterblock, pump (for space requirements), radiator, and reservoir I might just forget about the whole idea.

Thanks.

1. Email swiftech, or call them up and ask for michelle.
She handles the RMA's and other customer service related stuff.
If swiftech has mounts, she will most likely be able to send you out a kit for a reasonable price.

2. a bay res for the d5 is expensive.
Everything for the D5 in that regards is expensive.
The only viable option i can see for a bay style is a t3, however the t3 right now is prone to cracking, so i wouldnt recomend it to anyone unless i really hated them.

Possibly if u can wait a bit, lets see how the rev.2 t3's are. If there good and dont crack i would highly recomend that.

3. T3.

4. You can fill via the T3, or add a Y in the inlet, and fill it via that way.

Thanks for the advice. Apparently they make an adapter for the GTX and GTZ, and it's only $9.99 + shipping! So, things are looking up already. I emailed Michelle and she got back to me very quickly.

You have a "Swiftech MicroRes B" and want a bay res also?

With the way the case is setup, I figured a bay reservoir would be my best option, and then I could attach the pump on top of that. However, I noticed their site shows a metal bracket for attaching the Micro Res, so I'll have to see if I can bolt it to the bottom of the 5.25" cage somehow. If so, I'm good to go with that.

You can get the adapter cheaper buying from an online store if one is carrying it. Swiftech will charge full retail.

Swiftech is $9.99 + ~$7 shipping, and FrozenCPU is $9.99 + ~$7.50 shipping. I'll probably still buy it from FrozenCPU, as I'd imagine they're more readily equipped to handle packaging and shipping quickly.

Mount the pump below the res, use a barb with a length of tubing attached to the fillport. This can be connected to a fill-port or simply plugged for filling and bleeding.
This tube is allowed to hang free in the case, tucked away and pulled outside the case to fill. If you look here at the line running to the back rad and follow the T-line you will see what I mean. Rather than use a fill-port I use a barb and threaded cap you can find at any plumbing supply. I add a rubber washer to the inside of the cap to seal rather than teflon tape and this way can be opened and closed repeatedly with no problems. No need to drill holes in your case.

Here is a link to my build thread with lots of pics that may give you some ideas.
